BMW 1M Voice Commands: What are your favorites?

I admit, I have not used the BMW Voice Command button (or features) to my advantage at all. And I'm sure there are some great uses. I have just been too focused on actually enjoying the car to go read the manual on available voice commands

Dear Pros, What are your favorite commands and voice shortcuts? (are there any?)

What are the exact steps? Push Voice Button and just say "Enter Address" followed by the actual address?

While not 1M specific, a fun one is if you're listening to something in the media or an ipod, etc. etc. and want to switch over to Sirius, you can hit the button and say, "Satellite Radio Channel ____" with whatever channel you want and bam! Don't have to hit any idrive buttons or scroll through channels and is pretty quick. If you're already in satellite radio, you can just hit the button and say "channel ___" and it'll go to that channel, too.

Yes, say that and then the House Number in Single Digits, followed by the Street, City and State.

I use "stop guidance" a lot. It stops the navigation if you have an address put in, thereby silencing the nagging lady :-)

The trick to the voice command is to simply say what you see. Call out the logical prompt for the name of the menu that you would normally access with the controller and the car will walk you through the rest.

Any doubts just look in the back of the manual for a full listing or press the voice command button and say "help".

I use mostly
-call- -name- to confirm -yes- 3 words and it is calling to someone from your phone book.

I've never quite understood what activating the "short commands" feature does for me. Anyone care to clue me in?

yup it's basically
"Phonebook"
Then idrive will ask you to say a name e.g "Doe John"
Then confirm with "Yes"

Although Rimas' method seems more efficient:

I rarely use the voice control system (http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...ol_system.html).

I programmed my most frequent commands in the programmable memory keys:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=652912

For speed toggling between split screen and full screen: just push the "OPTION" button on the iDrive and then click the iDrive controller to confirm ticking the "Split screen" box. As I always keep the iDrive scroller ready on the "Split screen" position in the "OPTION" menu, I don't need to scroll up through that menu. So it only takes two quick touches to toggle (and you don't need looking at the iDrive or the SATNAV).

Here's the list of voice commands:

I find this feature completely useless. Should have rather put the traction control button there instead

Thanks - but I don't have idrive. And, although I have voice commend, I think the commands are a bit different. Need to take a peek in to the manual, and mess around with some test.

Trouble is - I'm usually too impatient to start driving - and then once I'm going, to hell w/ the gizmos. Except spotify over my phone.

The only two I've figured out how to use (no idrive) are:
-"dial name"
-"dial number"

The "dial name" required me to program the spoken name with a particular phone number.

I also used "call" and then "name" successfully for "wife's name, mobile" but "wife's name, home" doesn't work. Oh well. It's super simple to hit 3 buttons in rapid succession to reliably achieve the same result and talking at my car.
