Yes i did. I'm on a limited budget and there's no point in getting $$$ parts when i put on more than 20k miles a year. I know i won't be getting tippy top performance, but it'll be substantially better than stock and substantially cheaper than evolve+SS headers.
I'm still waiting for my manifold. I called the company and they said they found a crack in it before they shipped it, so they're awaiting to take another off the motor that will be shipped out early next week, so they say.

I'm not rooting for one team or the other, i did what works for me and my budget. I think we need the n52 group to expand and try new and different combinations to find what works best, as well as to get many different dyno graphs to finally lay the rumor mill to rest. I still have to get my baseline but hopefully I can get one soon.

And more importantly, is a code reader for our ECU, not one of those generic units.

I did Evolve to break away from AA vs others comparisons. Don't have any regrets.

Scheduling a dyno for thursday/friday this week or next, hopefully they can fit me in. I'm getting this stupid steering pop/metallic clank noise checked out tomorrow by a mechanic, it's driving me mad and i can't find anything wrong. Hopefully my buddy's didn't screw up my eibach spring install.
Dyno planned for thursday morning on a dynojet dyno. I'll be using it for every run to ensure accuracy.

Yes it has-- st|g has passed PA state inspection, which includes plug in OBD2 testing.

Yes. My car would be the proof. I've also seen it on other chassis with their tune.

Yes, as far as I know Evolve is the only company than can turn them "down" in sensitivity to pass, not off for the dash light(which results in a OBDII test fail).

e.g. sensors showing "not ready" is an automatic inspection failure in PA. All AA is doing is turning off the light.

I also learned that the Simon tool can not read or clear codes. Previously had given it the benefit of the doubt and assumed it could.

Coudn't you register it in another PA county, say Monroe, which doesn't do emmisions testing?

And can read/clear engine codes, including BMW specific ones (aka, unlike pep boys/similar). And it's likely a much better tune, particularly if you're DISA and/or headers (since 130i's (standard stage 3 DISA) is a car they regularly tune and they're the sole SuperSprint distributor in England, so they have lots of experience with them... And they're awesome tuners). |

Reading and clearing codes is not a big difference but I would spend the extra money for Evolve too, I think. You can read and clear codes with Torque, a $5 phone/pad app and a $25 OBDII to bluetooth interface. If AA + $30 did what Evolve seems to do it could be a deal. But not really removing the emissions issue makes me think there is probably a HP difference too. It doesn't prove it but if you do a less than stellar job at one aspect of the tune..... If a state emissions tester will see the code then a dealer would raising questions about the tune.
Is it just me or does it seen odd to anybody else that Evolve and AA say the only way to load their tune is to use their interface? I have run NCSExpert which is the old version of a BMW dealers software. I doubt it lacks the ability to load the tune but I guess I can understand why the tuner would rather you just do what they know works. Jim
