wow Thanks Gill at Tire Rack
Sunday evening of this week I sent Gill an email asking him to call me on Monday when he had time to talk about tires for my wife's 135i. So Monday as expected he called and we discussed options and I said ok to a new set of Conti DWS in 255 rear and 225 front. Today (wed) I get a confirmation email of delivery and they are already here. WOW that is some smoking fast service.
I will wait a few weeks to get all the wear I can out of the old tires then get these non RFTs mounted in place of the stockers and see whats up. Thanks Gill

You did exactly what I did in regards to new tires...Continental ExtremeContact DWS in 225-40-18 and 255-35-R18.
I looked at Tirerack, but in the end, for shipping to Canada, couldn't beat TireTrends' price (they're out of BC...so only one provice over). I'm quite pleased with the tires, and they're much better (noise and ride) vs. the Bridgerock runflats. I'm only planning on using these tires in the shoulder seasons here (Sept-Nov & Mar-May -- set of dedicated winter tires from Nov-Mar), and then running a set of performance summers from May-Sept.

since I really don't need serious performance tires for my DD I will be switching over to the exact same setup. from what I hear it has decent snow traction as well. I will be buying a dedicated track setup for next spring. bring on the slippery stuff

I chose the tire from a field of only a few that are asymetrical as opposed to directional, so that I can do L --> R, R --> L rotations without having to have the tires remounted inside-out.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....emeContact+DWS And yes, the reviews are very good.

Its been a little over a year now since I put the DWS on and now the back tires are starting to feather along the edges a lot. I always watch pressure and alignment as well but fairly soon I will have to replace the rears not from wear but because the feathering is so bad it will eventually cause a lot of noise. I don't know the exact mileage but I am guessing it is around 15K or so. Not as bad as the stockers but way less than the 30K I was hoping for. I guess the next time I need 4 tires I will look for something else.

I don't think you can get much more than 15K to 18K miles out of the rear tires on our 135i's. We just have so much low end tq that the rear tires take a beating. Some people only get 8K miles out of the rears! But I think 15K to maybe 20K miles is tops for our rear tire life.

While there is no feathering on the DWS tires on my 128i 'vert after 11,000 miles, the average tread depth is about 7.5/32". If this wear rate remains constant, the rears should last a total of about 28,000 before they are down to 3/32". The fronts should give about 50k miles of wear. Tom |

I ordered rims and snow tires online from Tire Rack last Wednesday night around 8:00 pm for wife's Lexus.
They arrived Friday afternoon, shipped from Delaware to Connecticut. Mounted them Friday night. Just in time for the snow storm we had Saturday. Now that's customer service. |

I have a bit over 12K on my RFTs and I could drag a bit more if I needed but have garaged the car for winter. I have pulled it out on our warmer days. Getting ready to drop dime on some Mich PSS for springtime.

Smart move. Over here in Germany... you really need at least 4mm's of tire thread - due to aquaplaning on the Autobahns. A friend of mine has a used Porsche parts bizz... this is his bussiest time of year because people crash their cars because of not enough tire on the road. October to April is when he buys most of his "parts cars" for the year. |
