ZHP gear knob Group Buy!

Hey guys, am about to make an order for the amazing weighted ZHP gear knob from Schmiedmann (http://www.schmiedmann.com/en/bmw-e8...5-11-7-896-886)

Check out the reviews for the ZHP! (http://www.amazon.com/BMW-25-11-896-031/dp/B005MW1XA2)
"look dude: if you drive a stick, you need this. if you don't, you're boring and your girlfriend hates you." LOL

However being the cheap ass I am, tried to see if I could get a discount.

They are currently priced at $91.41 USD shipped each which equates to approximately $125 AUD. However, I've managed to secure the price down to $100 AUD + free pickup if you're in Melbourne, otherwise +$10 shipping anywhere else in Australia.

Shipping to Australia will take about 2-3 days using DHL

Need at least 5 people keen to get this going! Let me know if you're in and please specify if you want 6 speed or 5 speed and need shipping.

ZHP Gear knob $100 GB:
1. 7smurfs - 6 speed, free pickup (PAID)
2. Sr2223 - 6 speed, plus shipping (PAID)
3. Harills - 6 speed, plus shipping (PAID)
4. D2000 - 6 speed, plus shipping (PAID)
5. Scotty89 - 5 Speed, free pickup (PAID)
6. dazza - 6 speed, free pickup (PAID)

Get the illuminated one, P/N 25112284205

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=794922

Personally I prefer the look of the stock perforated M sport shifter, but is this ZHP knob heavier for nicer shifting? Illuminated one is apparently even heavier than the ZHP one

Interesting it does look good however I don't think Schmiedmann actually have it in stock - unless someone can find it on their site! Also the wiring looks like a PITA

Stock is good but I find it too light. I've driven the 1M with the ZHP and it actually makes the gear throws so much better in terms of feel with it's added weight in the right areas. Seems to mould better to your hand as well lol

When I throw 5 into my cart on schmiedmann, shipping costs the same as it does for 1 ($31.45 USD). This brings the total for 5 knobs, with shipping, to $331.25 USD ($450.85 AUD) and then each knob would cost $66.25 USD ($90.17 AUD) shipped.

I'd love to get in on this group buy but I think we can get them cheaper than what you/schmiedmann are saying.

Good man!

Just in case you didn't know, the cart does update the shipping amount based on unit weight. So, it's not like the shipping for 5 is the same as 1 because the shipping calculator isn't intelligent enough.

Yeah the shipping is weird, the shipping price shoots up at certain quantities oddly!

Furthermore, they kept telling me different prices cause they said it was based off "Cubic volume" which i have nfi how that works and that they stuffed up the weight on some items - insert reason -

And totti is right, the additional fees are inclusive in my quote.

Hmm, cubic volume is a fair enough reason. Would they be willing to repack the items to reduce on cost? I am not sure how they come packaged currently but the cubic volume of the knob, without packaging, should be lower than its weight and therefore it stands to reason that they might be able to pack them all up to reduce the wasted space.

How do you fit these? Is it as simple as pulling the old one off and pushing the new one on?

Yep pretty simple

1) Literally pull off the old one.

2) Take off the gear boot

3) Install gear boot onto ZHP

4) Install onto shifter

Some people use rubber bands or cable ties to ensure that the gear boot doesn't move.

If you can get me one of these I might be interested. Can it replace my 6sp steptronic shifter? If so what do the top and side buttons do?

How did you go with asking them about repackaging?
