Anyone know anything about Rockland, Maine?

I'm heading up to Rockland for a mini vacation this weekend and wondered if anyone on here had any suggestions regarding things to do and places to eat and maybe a suggestion for an awesome driving road.

Not sure about this time of year, but every August we make a roadtrip down to Rockland for the annual Maine Lobsterfest - the seafood is simply amazing. It usually runs for about 5 days leading up to the first weekend in August. If the BP oil spill doesn't contaminate the whole east coast's marine life by August, I plan on making the roadtrip again this year to Lobsterfest.

I've been up there in the Rockland area, it's really scenic. I grew up in southern New Hampshire. Enjoy your trip!

The irony is that although this has become an annual tradition for me, my wife and my friends, I'm actually allergic to lobster!! So why do I go? Because they have such an awesome variety of other fresh seafood - steamed clams, fried clams, fresh oysters, scallops, fish and chips, chowders, and then of course the standard carnival fare including deep fried blooming onions, deep fried oreos, deep fried twinkies and anything else you can fit into a deep fryer.

Aside from the spectacular assortment of food, which you get to savor while sitting outside enjoying the fresh ocean breeze, they have booths where artists and craftsmen from the area sell their merchandise, and in the evening they have live concerts.

If you're a lover of seafood, I urge you to do yourself a favor and visit the Maine LobsterFest in Rockland.

If you happen to make it out this year, look for a CR 135i coupe with Ontario plates .

Arcadia seems like it could be a possibility. I'm hauling a ton of photography gear so I'm definitely interested in places to use it.

IS+1, have you dined anywhere in Rockland that you could recommend?

I've only been to Rockland during Lobsterfest, and therefore that is the only place I've ever dined at in Rockland. We would typically arrive in the afternoon, have dinner there, stay the night, have lunch there again the next day, then continue onto outlet shopping elsewhere in New England.

However, being right on the water I'm sure there's plenty of good seafood places there year-round. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
