no, it's not. u're seeing the heat shield in the dark so the shadow makes u think it's cf. consider where the chrome tip is, the cf area u're talking about is inside above the tip, not a body panel/diffusor. it's gotta be the heat shield.

One more thing. I'm a definitely skeptical about this car only coming on MT. I just don't see the logic on BMW's end. Why limit your sales to 10-20% of it's potential. I estimate that figure based on a rough ratio of MT vs. AT sales on the US. On average BMW sells 4 AT cars for every 5 cars sold. I personally do t care as I am a diehard MT driver. Remember when the 335is was announced and almost everyone was convinced that it was only going to be available in DCT because of some baseless rumor? I think that is happening again and believe that they will offer a DCT version.

You guys think a CF diffuser only has CF on the outside surface? The part is CF so the portion near the tips would also be made out of CF just like every other portion even the ones that you dont see.

The plastic diffuser on the 135 is plastic in that area around the tips, the same plastic that you see when you look at the diffuser.

It sure loooks like carbon fiber. It could be some other kind of mesh material, I suppose.

This car deserves better than an automatic transmission.
This is the reason we don't get a lot of the good exclusive cars in the US. Everyone starts complaining that the suspensions too stiff or the ride hight's too low ect. on a specifically driver/track oriented car. If one cant handle (or appreciate) rowing their own I cant understand why they would also put up with a stiff suspension. As far as im concerned heel towing is one of the best parts of driving and adds a whole dynamic that is completely lost when you put in an auto box. All these cries of no dct! on a BMW forum about BMWs new back to the roots drivers car is completely absurd to me.

It's not. It's the same dimpled aluminum that you see toward the center of the car in the foreground. It's not getting as much light from the flash, so the dimples don't seem as pronounced, and the aluminum doesn't seem as bright. These two effects combine to mimic the look and color of carbon fiber.

But it's not -- it's aluminum.

No need to be a smartass, My question was above that.

I was just curious why you decided to copy the list from bimmerfile but leave out the N54 bit.

Looks like the bonnet might have something interesting going on.

i agree, i think the hood has two slight indents on each side.

So it looks like we are due for 2 more stripteases before the official reveal in December... So one part in October (the side air-let?) and then in November the rear bumper?
gotcha, saw those as well.
i'm probably wrong about this, but judging by this pic, i have a feeling they're also gonna show us the side view mirror/door.

I also think that the depth of the grooves shown in the cover means that the bonnet can't be same as that rendering. If I was a betting man, I'd say that the bonnet is aggressively styled, possibly with 2 lines on each side like infamous says, or with 1 line but a deep concave reaching out on each side..

Will be interesting either way!

One thing that they might have done is to make the bonnet more like the 2011 3er models (and possibly new 1er models) so that when the 1M releases it isn't instantly a bit dated looking from the bonnet..

You can't be serious. What about the thousands of people who don't post on this forum, or any forum for that matter. You can't look at forums and assume they are a majority vote. So what if a few people on these forums are pissed that there is no DCT... I *GAURANTEE* that BMW will have no problem selling every single 1M in a very short amount of time even if the car is 6 speed only. The forums are not the majority, nor do the opinions of the forums really matter... if they did, we wouldn't have tons and tons of market-targeted stuff in BMW's.

6MT only. Keep it that way. Don't assume that 20% of the forum means 20% of the real world. It means 20% of the enthusiast base on this specific forum won't buy a 1M without DCT... it DOES NOT mean that 20% of the entire world won't buy one.

A single (Twin Scroll) turbo N54 would make sense. I remember hearing someone (BimmerFile perhaps??) mention that the Valvetronic was giving ///M some problems with the time allotted, so maybe that could explain it

I recently met a staunch Audi/VW guy (has every car modded) who has never seen a 1 series, and thought that they looked badass, I was telling him about the 1M, this was about a month ago...so, if you have people out there who never even heard of the 1 series and are staunch car enthusiasts, do you really think that they would sell every one.

Also, by your logic, you opinion on this forum doesn't matter. And finally, remember the M5 debacle? Car enthusiasts wanted the MT, and they got it, and you know what...it didn't suit the character of the car...There is not a finite cookie cutter option, that is why in life there are choices...or are choices nothing more than illusion to make us think we are better off with or without something?

The engine in an ///M car is the heart and soul of that car (except for the S52B32 debacle). Engine selection is the primary dynamic that all other systems are engineered around. The way the engine delivers the power is the starting point.

Name any ///M version of any chassis code and the engine in that vehicle is the first thing that you think of.
