OEM head light options and functions questions

Ok so from what I have looked up there is 3 types of headlights the 1 series can have, Halogen, Bi Xeon, and Bi Xeon with Cornering system?

My question is for the middle selection I understand that they are both inner and outer projectors? Does the inner serve any function since the outlets are bi Xeon? If so what function because I was just at a dealership and asked the shop Forman that question and he had no idea? I do see some 3 series on the roads that seem to have both inner and outer projectors on at the same time and they are both Xeon? Not sure if that's a mod or factory or after market? Reason I ask is because I have the cornering system and don't really find it all that useful since the xeons also turn as well like they did on my e46 m3 and thought it would look better if I opted for the dual projectors bi Xeon set? Anyone have any input on that?

I have bi-xenon with no cornering, you can see pictures at this post: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1201871

I found these lamps better looking that the cornering ones since these ones have 2 projectors instead of 1.
The inner projector contains the halogen bulb that lightens the angel rings, this projector dont light up.

the inner is just a low speed cornering light, also illuminates the halos. not really worth the extra money to drop a projector in there imo

Ok so I have the cornering lights but like you think the 2 projector headlights look better, tho I would like it better of both projectors were hid.. I just think it would look more clean? So are you saying that the Halogen bulb that lights up that inner projector is the same bulb that lights up the halos? And at what time do the inner projectors illuminate since it's still a bi-xenon system? Thanks I am just wondering if it's worth dropping the cornering lights and getting a set of the non cornering ones? Thanks in advance!

The bulb that is in the inner projector on the normal bi-xenons doesn't actually "light up" the projector, and it does not look like it is "lit up" like the outer projector at all.

It is just cosmetic.

The inner projector houses the bulb that lights up the angel eyes via the fibre optics of the headlight.

The inner projector never looks like the outer projector at any point.

Halogen, non AHL and AHL headlights...

On non AHL lights the inner lens is a dummy. Only the AE will light up. Other than that - it has no function. On AHL cars, the inner lamp will light up(only when the headlight switch is in AUTO mode) when you turn the steering wheel. Those are the cornering lights. Also the outer xenon lens will turn with the steering wheel. For the full effect, car car has to be moving, otherwise the driver's headlight will not move as much as the passenger side.

NOTE: there is also the pre and post LCI headlights... with the led brow built in. Otherwise the headlights are the same.
