Sears Point/Sonoma Raceway Session 1
My first trip to what use to be Infineon, now Sonoma Raceway at Sears Point or something or other.
Might be my new favorite track. I love the back half of the track, especially the chicane. If this track had more run off it'd be nice to really try and push it. The walls are even closer than they appear in the video so you can't get to greedy. A guy in a near new GT3RS wrapped his up in my run group. He tried to pass in the braking zone at the hairpin and carried to much speed. Boom! Concrete isn't very forgiving. No video of this, but he was right behind me on the last session before it happened. Switched to new pads(CL RC6's) before the session and holy shiite these things are awesome. Zero fade, vastly improved feel and performance, now if they live up to their claim for durability we may have a winner. Video included is my first session there with a mix of traffic. The Mclaren I pass in the beginning of the video belongs to Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Johnson. Very freakin cool! He was a super nice guy and chatted him up a bit about his rides (he also owns a 458 italia and an SLR). Now I can't wait to go back there! |

I agree, Sears is awesome. But I think you're talking about the carousel? The configuration in your video bypassed the chicane. This is the chicane during our lemons race last weekend:

Yep, that thingy. Love it. It doesn't hurt that I seemed to be able to catch much faster cars through that section. Nothing like flicking the steering wheel at 100 mph to get the heart pumping.
