screw in a tire, but not totally punctured
While driving home yesterday, I heard a click in my right rear tire (stock RFT's), and found a self-taping screw wedged in one of the grooves. The point of the screw had penetrated the surface of the tire, at the base of the groove, but it doesn't appear to have punctured all the way through. This morning I went to the Costco a couple miles f/ my house, and they said it's not leaking (checked pressure) and said I would be fine w/out doing anything. I decided to not have them pull the wheel off and inspect it further.
I'm concerned the semi-puncture of the screw may be a weak spot that could let go at some point in the future. Any comments or suggestions? Will the tire be OK, or should I get the damage drilled out and plugged just to be safe? Thanks much! mpp
