Did you use new decouplers on the injectors? Did you install the three brackets with the correct curvature orientation? Were these new injectors with the seal caps still on them?

All 6 injectors were brand new index 12s with seal caps. New decouplers were installed as well as checking to make sure the old decouplers came out with the old injectors. All 3 brackets were installed correctly and torqued to spec.

The only thing I noticed was the old number 6 injector gave me a hell of a time coming out and was covered in soot, but all 6 old ones still had the teflon seals on them.

Sounds like that rules out injectors then. I too had trouble removing my #6 injector when I installed six new index 12s recently. That plus coding solved all my misfire problems however.

I would probably look back to the plugs at this point considering you had about 1,500 on those plugs with possible faulty injectors comprising them.

Beyond that, I'm stumped if everything has been installed properly.

Yes, recheck plugs. Don't count out a bad injector however. PITA, but you could also try swapping two to see if the misfire follows. As Sherlock said, when you've eliminated the impossible...

The new plugs arrive today so I will be putting them in and updating with the result. Thanks for all your help.

Ok...completely stumped now...replaced the plugs with OE BMW plugs and now it seems like the cold start related misses are a bit worse and after running the car for a while, the idle jumps up to 800 RPMs...

Sorry I don't have any helpful info, but I just pulled my injectors and #6 was a bear to get out and was covered in junk. I didn't have any misfires on #6 either. Subscribing.
