Secret codes
Now that the 1-series has been out of production for some time has BMW released all the computer specifics so other repair shops can work on our cars?

Any shop can work on BMWs as long as they have the right tools. They can read the codes w/ a BMW specific scanner or software. You can read your own codes with a smart phone & Carly app + OBDii dongle.

Personally I take mine to a local independent mechanic that specializes in BMW & Mini. My Indy is a trained BMW master technician and has all the tools & software the ship would. Recommend you search around/ask around your area and read reviews.

Still
Still doing research on repair shops in my area. Believe I have settled on one and will try them out the next time I have to take it in for repairs. Thanks for your response.
