JB3 1.22 and Injen Intake

Well my injen intake finally arrived after 2.5 weeks. Box looks great and parts look very high quality.

I start the install and then notice theres a problem with my kit.

Whats missing from this picture?

Oh well, for now my BMS intake will have to do. (The BMS intake is excellent for performance, but alittle rough on looks )

Anyways, i install the JB 1.22 (upgrading from 1.1).

I love the map switching, very easy to use, in fact i removed the 3 position map switch since i dont need it anymore. Car feels smooth, but honestly not much faster than 1.1, but probably because i don't have traction with either tune .

I hope Terry keeps up the innovation because these tunes are getting so damn good these days.

By the way this is what happens when you install JB 1.22

LOL.. actually the brake dust has nothing to do with the JB3 and that dust on his rims are nothing compared to mine.. its the pads that BMW uses.. you dont want brake dust.. switch to some other brands of ceramic pads...

I'm telling you what, i really like the design of this intake. I've had really good luck with Injen on my past vehicles, with quality and performance. If i was in the market, i'd be torn right now between Riss and Injen. I like how the Injen looks and blows air on the filter closest to the engine, and allows fresh air to go over the engine.
I think a perfect combo would be Riss scoops with Injen Intake System

Okay finished the install thanks to Bobby overnighting the missing piece.

Very happy with the intake, sounds good, slightly different from the BMS intake.

The BMS Intake whistled alot, the Injen doesn't whistle the same but just sounds damn mean. Prefer the injen sound, sounds less cartoony and more muscular.

Some install notes for those considering this.

1) You have to drill a hole through the honeycomb on the front of the car. Not hard, but interesting to note.

2) I noted that there is nothing in the kit that holds the left front intake pipe in place. I actually ended up putting double sided automotive tape between this piece and the shroud to hold it in place, but Injen should include matching bolts and nuts that match the right hand side bolts.

3) The install is rather long and but the instructions are VERY CLEAR and overall is not a hard install. You can tell Injen has taken their time to design this product right. Example, some stock plastic brackets are replaced with metal brackets to ensure the intake does not break the stock plastic bracket.

Overall thumbs up, i finally have intake that has form and function.

it's too expensive for a intake upgrade, if i was to go for a intake upgrade i go with the BMW performence, it's got CF and it sounds deeper and nicer

Im glad to say that the turbo noise is still there under partial throttle, but its alittle less whistly and more of lower toned surge sound.

Sounds great
