What info can the BMW dealer read on our key fob?

Hi Guys,

A few weeks ago there was a thread on what kind of info was stored on our key fob. I tired searching for it... but I can't find it. IF someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Anyway... while I was at my German dealer last week... I asked them what can they read from my key fob. They were nice enough to make me a print out. I was a little surprised just how much info is stored on the key!

Here is the printout...

VIN number - factory name
model - model number
type - color code (exterior)
kms/miles - todays date & time!
key version - key number sub set
interior option color code - origin
last time key was used - in service date
production date -next service date
next service date -fuel tank level in liters
brake fluid change date - outside temp
coolant temp - ?
average distance per week - ?
engine codes/failures - ?
factory coding - ?
key number - ?

I am not quite sure what the last five designations are for. ???

More food for the key fob fire!

jeeze I had no idea that our key could give out that info, seems almost unnecessary IMO... but cool that they can do it.

My HPFP failed last week and the dealer said nothing was stored on the key about that. It's more like bulbs that are out and other superficial issues. They hooked it up to the computer and the error codes came spilling out. HPFP, low pressure sensor, and reprogram were done.

I've heard that lifetime average speed and fuel consumption are stored, aswell as top speed achieved

If they can see the top speed they might be a little surprised. I got to drive mine on the Autobahn.

I thought the key also shows how many times you opened/closed the convertible roof, not sure though.

Sorry I didnt translate the words after....unbekannter fehler means there are no codes present.

Restweg: generally means "distance to go" but I do not know the context they are using the phrase in.
Erweiterte Schluesselattribute: extra key attributes...once again I am unaware of what context they use this for (maybe with a future software update the key will have more features? Comfort Access features possibly?)
