Anyone else ever wish their 135 was Xdrive?
I've had my 135 for quite a while now, and I absolutely LOVE IT... but from day one of me punching it from a dead stop I have wished it was AWD/Xdrive (lucky M235 drivers). It's hard sometimes to find that perfect balance between an great launch and wheelspin... and depending on power mods, that's an even bigger issue.
Anyway, anyone else ever share the same sentiment? Suit on and ready

No. Back when I got it 3 years ago, I wishes it was made in X-Drive, but by now I have fallen in love with RWD again. And it even does great in New England snow with proper tires.

No. The most oversold feature by the auto industry is awd.
"punching it from a dead stop" With all due respect, what were you hoping for when you bought a German road car? If you like drag racing, practice feathering the clutch pedal out (if you have one of those). Sorry you did say you had your suit on. |

For drag racing, your anyways gonna squat the car on throttle and put more weight on the rears, awd wouldn't really help except on rally type stages. And I would never buy a awd bmw, they steer awful, might as well get a quattro then.

No. I came from powerful AWD and I loved that car for what it is. This car, however, is NOT that car. They way it's balanced and setup, AWD has no place here, even with it's much maligned shortcomings (i.e. e-diff). That doesn't mean I don't miss some of my former car's driving characteristics, it just means I don't believe AWD has a place on this particular car.

Sadly very little (up north anyway), but man I DO miss that stuff Quote:
When I had a modded WRX years ago I got tired of "too much traction" if that makes sense, and went back to RWD with an e46 330 stick, which was a blast but low on "grunt". The 135 is awesome and checks all the boxes... except for 5% of the time when I want to grow a mullett and pretend to be a blown Fox body Mustang on drag radials.

And not to mention head of M division (former Audi exec) stated its very well possible: So it shouldn't be a surprise that when Auto Express asked van Meel about all-wheel drive on the next M5, he replied, "If we continue the power increases in the future... then probably the next generation M5 and M6 will have so much torque and power that we need to think about those solutions." http://www.autoblog.com/2015/01/14/n...l-wheel-drive/ |

You know they built an F10 M5 xDrive right? It was a one-off, but still.

Ferrari and Porsche do well with AWD... I'm far from opposed to it. Take a system that sends 80-99% of the bias towards the rear, and I bet alot of folks who "swear by RWD" (not a jab, this includes myself) would find the driving experience no different than what they felt in their E46 M3.
Now if we're talking a driving experience closer to an E30 M3, than that invloves just a much more raw and mechanical experience in general, without about 600lbs ot today's electronics, safety gear, comfort, etc... but I digress. AWD I'm open to... hovercrafts are for folks who want to take their swamp boats out on the road, and for GIJOE villans!

I can honestly say Im glad the 1er is RWD. With that said, I plan on buying an Evo for a DD once I return to the U.S.

Nope. Came from an STI and I specifically wanted a RWD car for better balance. STI was great, but it had a lot of push and understeer. The BMW is a lot more satisfying to drive.
