The importance of claying
I live in a rural area, and my neighbor up the road has a contract with the garbage co. to paint the green dumpsters. After having my car 2 weeks, I clayed it yeaterday for the first time and had to use a complete Adam's claybar on the car. In two pieces, both of which became so green I could not complete the lower panels on the sides.
Is there any harm to the paint of the car if it is clayed every month or 2? Thanks LJ |

Wow, that's insane, I wouldn't think there would, might use some jetseal or something to coat the paint though, that would help as well. 25% off sale currently too!

There is no harm done in claying your car every month or so. It's probably not necessary to clay that often, as the wax you are applying should keep the paint itself protected for at least that long.

Do I need to Clay my Paint Surface?
Claying is not always necessary; to verify if your vehicle is in need of claying conduct the ‘Bag Test’ After washing and drying your vehicle place a plastic sandwich bag over your hand or fingers, gently pass over the surface. Does the surface feel silky smooth or rough and gritty? If you felt roughness and/or grit, your surface is contaminated and requires the clay process |
