New shoes fitted- PZero's for track or sale?

Well I had a set of Hankook S1 Evo tyres fitted this morning, 225/40/18 F and 255/35/18 R. Was actually going to have a set of V12's fitted but these ended up on the car instead. Long story, but I'm not unhappy about it. Inflated to 35psi.

I inspected the PZero Rossos that were taken off and the centre of the rears was noticably worn to the naked eye. This isn't surprising since I haven't been able to do any "fun" driving through the hills for about 6 months.

They're actually quite serviceable as I misread the wear indicator, they're good for a couple of track days I reckon or another 10,000km. (my mistake here )

So now I'm tossing up buying a set of rims, nothing fancy, and having a set of track day hoops, or selling them for say, $200 a corner. I'm undecided at present.

Can I ask for suggestions/opinions on what rims might do the job for me on the track?

Either way I'm looking forward to heading to the hills to see how Wolfgang goes with his new shoes.

cheers,
Matt.

You're in the position I'll be in in a little while, and when that day comes I'll be hunting down some rims and keeping the tyres for a track day or LVMA. Having a spare set to throw on when something pops up is awfully handy.

Yeah I'm set on going down the 2nd set of wheels route. Now to source the rims...

If you want to get into tracking then you might consider what I did which was to buy a set of second- hand BMW 330 17"rims from Motorsport wheels and tyres (Ph 03 9793 3244 Talk to Matt Danaher) at a very reasonable price of $225 each.

Those rims have the right offset for the 135i's and look great too.

I went to 17" for two reasons: to save money on track tyres and increase choice of available R spec tyres

To maintaine same rolling diameter as stock 18", I went for:

Front 17 x 45x 225 and Rear 17x 40 x 255 using 7.5" front rims and 8.5" rear rims

As for tyres, I bought Toyo Proxes R888 and am more than happy with them

By the way, going with R Spec tyres totally transforms the 135 on a track

Highly recommended
