Washer jets blocked
Just fixed a problem where my windscreen washers were not working but headlight washers were
Had to take the wheel and inner arch off to get to the washer reservoir and remove the pump to clean the small filter , it was covered in a gunk/slime residue I previously used an off the shelf windscreen wash but will now be using the BMW stuff |

I'm sorry you had a negative experience. The one mistake the Performance Center made in delivering my 128i in July 2009 is they left the washer tank bone dry. I didn't notice until I got home. Luckily I had more than a gallon of fluid but it was not BMW. I never even thought of getting bmw fluid, I just dumped in what I had. As far as I know, the dealer had never put any in and all it's ever had is the "cheap stuff" I put in my other vehicle. It's always worked fine.

Yes I thought any would suffice really but thought I would post as a heads up in case any one else had this problem
Easy fix but bit of a drag getting to the filter |

That gunk is alge that grows and gathers in the smaller orifices of the system. Cheap stuff does that as its more water then cleaner deicer. BMW stuff is very powerful and tends to have much more alcohol in it to kill just about anything
Lucky you caught it most people keep trying the washer and burn up the pump.

I think I have the same problem. Just kinda scared of taking everything apart since I'm not sure what I'm looking for.

Don't feel like starting a new post so I'll bump this thread up.
So, my washer fluid reservoir is also blocked. I tried the bicycle pump trick and a lot of hardened fluid came out but then it blocked up again. Looks like I'll be pulling the covers off. I actually started doing this first and noticed the plastic rivets and avoided it! I always snap off plastic trim fasteners ;( Think I have no choice now. Found some instructions which are helpful. I stopped at the plastic rivets (Item 2) thinking: wtf - no way am I going to remove those! http://bmw.workshop-manuals.com/1_Se...ex.php?id=1924 What a pain in the ass. But also what an awesome website. Looks like it's the whole manual! Not sure if you all know about this site or not. |

little off topic but can anyone take a picture of the underside of the hood / close up of the jets hoses and set up?
I got some paint protection wrap put on and one of the jets either seems to have been broken or replaced poorly. If anyone could help me out I'd be very greateful haha
