I'm still only learning German... sorry. Thank you for the video, though, the color combo is what I ordered and I didn't get to see it together until now

interesting find! i never would of thought anyone would compare the rx-8 to the 135i. The rx-8 is a great handling car and it seems they said the 135i handles better. This is great news. I was acutally worried about loosing some of the handling by going over to the 135i.

Our little bimmer eats the Rx-8 alive. They both thought it was better overall. It stops in the the same distance, but the BMW handles better, is much faster, has more storage, uses less fuel in their test. They say the price is the only negative for the 135i, other than the smallish space in the back seat.

Passing in top gear, 60-120kph, the BMW does it in 7.1 vs. 13.9 seconds.

The 135i is faster to 60 by 2+ seconds too. Not really a fair fight, but they are priced similarly in Germany (within a couple thousand Euro).

Hmm. 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7? That's pretty disappointing, eh? Road & Track took a 2007 335i 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Mazda of Deutschland lists the RX8 Kuro (the version they tested) as 6,4 sec 0-100kph., where these two state the RX8 got 7,4 seconds to 100kph. So, maybe we shouldn't feel too bad at the 5.7 seconds...

That's surprising, almost unbelievable that the 135i handles better than the rx8. I hope this holds true because the rx8 is a very nimble car.

They were both faulted for gas consumption, yet the Mazda drank more than the BMW.

As an RX8 owner this is NO big surprise. The 135i better had put a bus length on the 8. What I am surprised by is the fact that the 135i handles better. I also thought I would be loosing some handling if I made the jump. Good to know I will not. That is really WOW as the 8 is phenomenal in the handling department!

I am waiting for the next rotary sports car and I will see how the 135i matches up against that. I expect the next rotary will run about 40-45k; so that will be the real test.

R&T has Rx8's 0-60mph at 5.9s

http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/d...2003171557.pdf

So 0-62 Autobild's figure gives 7,4 - 5,9 = 1.5s difference, therefore, maybe, a rough 135i estimate is 6,4 - 1,5 = 4.9s?

Hey, another real world Sedona looking good. God the 135i looks small near the RX-8. I'm driving around in my gf's old civic LX right now, from 02, until my car gets here. It feels small, its 174 inches front to back. The 135i is 171 front to back. Smaller than an 02 civic by 3 whole inches, i just love that.

Too unbelievable, in my opinion (if you see what I mean)... Based upon zero experience in the 135i and a dozen of drives in an RX-8, I have the nagging impression that the RX-8 would probably be more fun (though significantly slower) on a track.

I would think that based on vehicle size, power and front engine/rear drive layout that the RX8 would be natural competition for the 1, but more the 128 than the 135.
The rear seat comparison looked a bit off as they sat the guy behind the driver in the 1 and moved the seat back. When he sat in the back of the RX8, he was behind the passenger seat with no one in the front.

wow!?! the 335i guys really dont like the 1er. Are they that upset for not waiting for a better car with the same engine? Anyways i dont think any of us are surprised it beat the rx-8 in a straight line, its the handling that wow'd us.

I find it very comical that the e90post people trash the 135i, but looking through a lot of the forum it appears to be dominated by the ricer crowd. I hope this forum doesn't turn in that direction.

I guess I can semi-understand the hostility. I would be so pissed if I bought a 335i last year, only to see a better performing BMW come out the year after for less money.
