Just oil, filters, plugs. Looks like I get dirty on the weekend!
Was after a JB4 but you had none in stock. |

Speaking of oil did you grab some Motul 300V CHRONO or Turbolight 4100? I suspect you would have gone with Castrol's new EDGE Titanium as shown here, as it's proving to be quite popular in lieu of the fact it carries LL-01 approval and is the recommended viscosity for the N54/N55 engine. We will be carrying both the (5L) and (1L) containers, so for you guys that are doing oil changes at home in the garage or in the driveway, you will have half a litre spare for top ups between servicing. The Castrol 5W-30 engine oil is indeed BMW Longlife-01 approved and is of the same viscosity as the crankcase factory fill. For those guys that are FBO making close to 300 rwkW and are tracking your car, I suggest using their 5W-40 weight version as this will provide a bit more engine protection when the motor is being highly stressed, for an extended duration at the racetrack. It's also BMW Longlife-01 approved but only available in (5L) packs, so for the backyard mechanic it is not quite as convenient as the 30 weight version. Cheers, JD. OK, cool!
Also Gents, here is another item you may require in the future to resolve a misfire issue, that being ignition coils. A few pics of the genuine Bosch coil, side by side with a Bosch spark plug. Obviously if you are changing spark plugs you would do all six. However pending the service life, ignition coils can be swapped out individually based on misfire codes. - Bosch 0 221 504 470 ignition coil $59.99 - Bosch ZGR 6 STEZ spark plug x 6 $83.99 Cheers, JD. Had a minor service performed at Advan last week and am happy to report that my car absolutely loves the fresh oil!
Great work by the whole crew. Thanks again Last edited by woosh; 07-21-2012 at 03:25 AM.. Reason: shpelling mistake |

I'm currently on Castrol 5W30 cause of a dealer visit but I prefer the 0W40. The engine is way too loud while the oil is cold. My motor sounds so much better on 0W40.

BMW 6 cylinders are known for there excessive engine noise on idle. Mine is pretty bad while it's cold and I only have 31,000klms on my odo. The 0W40 definitely makes the car quieter. The tick tick ticking noise annoys the crap out of me.

Is the stock BMW sparkplugs one of those iridium ones?

If the part numbers are the same shouldn't the part number be 12137594937? This is the part number I come up with on real oem. |

Your part# is correct Vinney. 12137594937 is the genuine BMW coil. The Bosch one is aftermarket. I bought some Bosch one's from the US at $28each.

Yes Vinney that is the part No on the box. Bosch make most of the electronic items for BMW.
