Leasing an 2009 this week
This is what I quoted from the dealer today.
24 months 12k miles Residual 73% MF .00320 2009 135i MSRP: 43800 Agreed price: 41770 Monthly payment: 676 Bank fee: 925 Security Deposit: 700 Documentation fee: 299 1st monthly payment: 676 Reg fee: 84.5 Tax on Bank fee(5%): 46.25 Total out of pocket: 2731 From leasecompare.com, the MF seems to be .00285 only. So i believe the dealer was trying to trick me:iono: |

I'm trying to determine if I should purchase or lease. I was thinking about leasing first then convert to purchase. Can I get your opinion about this move |

That mf equates to 7.68% interest. If you want to buy then I would maybe consider financing right away to lock in a good rate. You could try to negotiate the mf though and tell them if they can get the mf under .00275 you would lease with all else being the same. That would equate to them loaning you the money at about 6.5%.

My friend leased a new 335i which was 51k for $701 per month on a 3 year lease with no money down. The 335i has a great residual value. The residual value for a 135i isn't as good. The same dealer offered me a 135i costing 38k for $716/month on a 3 year lease with no month down. Both are at 1,500 miles per month. Now that is terrible. It looks like the 1 series is going to hold it's value. I'm waiting til 2009 to get a used 2008.

Leasing one myself this week. Although the numbers have gone down from October, the numbers are still decent.
Without tax included in the monthly payment I'm under 600/month for 24 months on a $42k MSRP(39k agreed price) with all the usuals up front. |
