135i vs The Self Serve Car Wash?

So I was at one of those coin washes and got out of the car, left it unlocked and popped in some coins and went to work. Throughout the process I could see my lights randomly blinking. This isn't the first time I've done this, it happens all of the time. Once in the past when I got back in my car I got the low battery warning. My question is what could be happening in those 5 minutes or so that could be draining my battery so much? I don't want to leave my keys at a public wash hidden far away somewhere so how should I approach it next time? When I had my M3 I actually had to call a tow company to jump me at the car wash! At the time I thought it was just because it was time for a new battery but now I know it has something to do with walking circles around the car with the key in my pocket. WTF is going on guys?

Leave your keys in the car while you're washing and the comfort access won't activate when water touches the sensors. This happens on my other car with keyless access as well.

Been washing my car for 9 years now at the self serve car wash. Yup, the lights blink and the horn beeps because of the comfort access system..but never had a battery problem in all that time.

Yeah, happened to me twice and once I had to call for a jump. I think I'll leave my key in the car next time and just pull the little physical key out just in case.

Haha, sometimes. I'll have some supplies with me and if it's not too busy I'll bust them out. Otherwise I just spray and go.
