Vert Rear Window Seal

So I was hard headed at times and when pressed for time I would (cringingly) bring my 1er into automatic car wash. Not realizing the drying set up on the last one that I went to, it had two super strong twin dryer blower in the center of car and two for the corner/side of car and after that my rear window has been rattling since. I learned my lesson but the damage was already done. Slowly it has been getting worse and now the bottom part of the glass has completely separated from the soft top. I called all the glass places and they will not touch it. I was referred to an upholstery shop that does work with insurances so I can submit a claim. Has anyone re-adhered their rear vert glass with long term success? BMW recommends replacing the whole top, no thanks(No Warranty).

Bad news. Had this happen with my previous car, Audi TT. After 10 years the adhesive just gave out.

It is very difficult (= impossible) to glue it back to look as good as before. At least, I wasn't able to do it.

You really have to replace the whole top, I am afraid.

I've used RTV black silicone on previous convertible top repairs if you're just trying to stave off getting a new top.

I don't think this would hold up for a long time, how long did it last you?

I think I am going to take a chance with the upholstery shop for $100 deductible and hope for the best.
