I asked for free floor mats, but the most he would give is a free tank of gas , I told him I can fart my own way home comments? |

I think CA buyers have a hard time working around the MACO & Training Fees...the deal looks ok. If its worth the trouble I'd push for less dealer markup (in light of the MACO/Training Fees), floor mats thrown in!!, and what's the deal with the $293 in licensing fees???!!! Also I would push for nothing more than $500 alarm incl install....

I think us Cali buyers have a harder time especially in the Bay Area, the truth is there are too many affluent people out here who won't haggle over $400-500, so the dealers know they don't have to bend over to get your business if you're nickel and diming them too much...
At this point I ask myself I'm buying a $40,000 car and I don't wanna haggle over $300-400 ya know? If you're in other parts of the country feel lucky that you have more negotiating power..... UPDATE: Damn another dealer just came back with $250 over invoice what do I do?? Last edited by azzurribaggio; 04-03-2006 at 07:55 PM.. |

Invoice prices are incorrect
At a glance I noticed your ZPP invoice $$ is high-it's actually $2,000. You might check the rest of your options at www.edmunds.com. Edmunds won't show you the extra costs BMW places on the dealer (MACO, training.) I'm having a hell of a time here in the midwest getting around those, too. So far my best deal on a 330i looks to be $1020 over invoice. SA I talked to today insists MACO and Training are non-negotiable with BMWUSA. Good Luck.

Same here I'm in Northern IL and I'm getting invoice+maco($250)+profit($750)+doc fee($57) so I'm essentially paying $1050 over. Dealer argued that maco is part of invoice, I'm half agreeing but ok'ed the deal because I'm just looking for a fair price. |

I am actually shocked that $293 is the licensce fee. I am in San Diego and the DMV had my 325i with a purchase price much lower than yours (lighter equiped car) and my fees were $345. I even called the DMV to make sure that the dealer didn't over charge me and take it as profit and everything checked out.

I showed this invoice to another dealer, he's willing to match plus free floor mats? Should I say no to the other dealer and go with the free mats? $39706.82 would be my new out the door price... |

Your deal is good, but not excellent. I don't think you'll have a problem getting that deal matched elsewhere in the B.A. But here's the thing...you've already consumed considerable time at dealer A negotiating a price, and you already AGREED on it. It's kind of piss-poor to take your business elsewhere for a set of free floor mats. OF COURSE dealer B is going to match the price and throw in the floor mats because 1) he hasn't invested/lost ANY time in you and 2) your deal is still quite profitable for them. ...but it's a bad-faith move on your part to do so. How would YOU like it if YOUR dealer rescinded his offer to you?? And what business do you have still shopping around once you've already agreed to a deal with dealer A!? very very unscrupulous.

I didn't screw my saleman, I stuck with my deal eventhough I know I could've played the game a gotten probably $250 over invoice for the same car and gotten the alarm for a bit cheaper....but at this point my time is money and for a ~$500 savings it's not worth it for me.
But that's just me, and now I expect my dealer to kiss my arse till it's nice and shiny...... |

I mean listen to yourself..."I'm trying to pay as little as I can for this...every penny saved is an extra penny that remains in my possession...and when it comes to money....you have no allies!" When people stereotype "BMW-driving a$$holes," this is the kind of person they're talking about. SmellyGas |

Irrespective of scruples, you should be considering any special services that the dealer may offer after the sale. Items like a free rental car while your car is in the shop, free car washes, even airport parking can add to the value of your deal.
My closest dealer offers these services, which is much more valuable to me than a set of floor mats. I would weigh these options into the deal as well to get the total effective price of the deal. |
