Tips on how to make the one series look less like Pikachu

Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a 135i due to it's slight performance edge over the 335i, however I would like to still appreciate the appearance of the car.

I've seen a lot of 1 series that look really great, but I don't have the greatest eye and can never decipher which component really made the difference. All I have been able to really notice is that I find it looks much better with eyelids.

What mods cosmetic modifications will best eliminate the "cute" look the car has?

Thanks!

First off, welcome. I am sure that there are not a lot of responses to your post so far, because style is very subjective, especially with this crowd (no disrespect intended). Your best bet is to look around and see what others are doing and what fits the style you would like to emulate. There is not a tremendous amount of style variations and options when it comes to our cars as there are with the 3 series. But there is enough to set your car apart from the rest. Hope this helps.

All you need to make the 135i look amazing is a drop, wheels, front lip, diffuser. Everything else is pretty minor.

None taken whatsoever. I meant no offence to any 1 series owners either and in retrospect realize that I could have still gotten my point across with a choice of better words. A lot of people prefer the styling of the 1 Series over other models. I also feel that the 1 series when properly modified looks considerably sportier then it's other BMW counterparts.

To be honest I think it was mostly the height that was bothering me. Everything you mentioned would make it looks phenomenal though.

A while back a saw an article that faced the BMW 1M of with a "fake" 1M. A company had modified performance aspects, suspension, as well a adding M performance body parts to it. In the end the "fake" 1M was declared the winner. Does anybody know what article this is?

Thanks

My disrespect comment was not directed at you....I was just covering my ass cause you know how these forums work. I did not want my fellow members to feel attacked.

Anyway......a drop and some wheels is always the best place to start with our cars. Next you could move on to some ascetics, like a lip, spoiler, diffuser, ect.

It was HP Autosports car. I think it was in Bimmer Mag but not sure. The owner is Harold who is active on these forums and has personally spoken with me multiple times while I have been setting up my car. He is very knowlagable for our cars and a nice guy. He also parted out that car and bought a 1 M Coupe. I would very highly recommend him and his shop HP Autoworks, I have sent many $k his way but I love my car and he has never sent me astray.

Funny- I just saw your post on reddit along with the dude in the white 128 that randomly drove by and admired the car (but didn't stop).

I really dig the front lip. Just wish there were some side skirt addons that would continue the lines rearward.

It needs work for sure...

You need to lower it period...the bulges on the side and tophat of the car will be much less pronounced. Also need to put some type of spoiler on the back like the CF a lot of people have to make the tophat also less pronounced. Changing the side skirts to performance will help too for bonus points

here's a pic of mine before i changed wheels which i dont think looks "cute"

Yeah you've eliminated everything I don't like about the car, all the way from the Pikachu look, to the love handles to the top hat which I hadn't noticed before haha. Great job!
