$3818 2yrs (RRP $6491)
$4500 3yrs (RRP $7700)

He said that there wasn't a great deal of difference in the two and he mostly sells the Allianz issued product. The BMW product is the only one that offers a 3 year option though.

I've just got to weight it up now, $4500 is still a bit of money for effectively 2 years cover (due to the fact i've got the premium selection on the car, which'll be overwritten).

Hope this helps someone.

Give Mike a call at Toowoombah BMW. He looks after forum members. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Just curious to know, would it be worth wild to ask for the Extended Warranty price at the time of a new car purchase, yet to be decided on that, but recorded on the purchase document with the price quoted!!
IF they obliged... im sure they have to honor the quote after 2-3 years ))

has anyone done this befor???

I agreed cost price 3 year extended warranty on our x3 as well as on my 2.9 year old 135 when I bought the x3. Two dealers tried to sell it at rrp but came up with the same number on "cost" which I was happy with. Excluded from purchase transaction but agreed to honor within 6 months.

I'm now leaning towards getting the Swann 36 months cover for only $2.8K. The only things not covered are:

Interior trim components, lamps, seats/seat mechanisms, seat belts, cup holders, ashtrays, carpet, glass components.

Exhaust system components subject to periodical replacement and corrosion eg. mufflers/pipes/catalytic converters.

My car has only 17,000km on the clock and these things are unlikely to break down unless i'm VERY unlucky. I'm willing to take a gamble on these....
