Tips for re-pairing iPhone with car...
Hi guys,
Maybe this will save someone the half hour I just spent working out why I couldn't repair my iPhone 3GS with the 135 after it had a firmware (the car) upgrade. The symptom: There were no paired devices. Fair enough, I'll just re-pair it. Nup. The device is still in the iPhone and the 'Forget this device' option doesn't seem to work and I don't get a PIN option on the phone when I enter it on the car. The solution is one of the following: Power off and reset the iPhone. Turn off WiFi. Don't enter the SIM PIN until paired. I did all those at once, after some Google research and then I could delete the car from the iPhone menu and then it was as per the manual. Have fun. Simon....

Something not working with my iPhone and Bluetooth at the moment, it has decided that it won't make a call from the car until I power it off and then re-power. Only started doing this in the last week. Any ideas?

Sorry MarkFC, can't help there specifically. Have you tried deleting the pairing and then redoing it?

Thanks Simon, I will give that a go.
Still on the iPhone theme, my previous phone was Nokia E65, worked perfectly in the car. Now that I have the iPhone, the icon I used to get on the radio screen has changed from the "radio tower" to a heavily outlined triangle. It's in the same spot as my radio mast used to be? I looked up the manual but couldn't find any reference to this different icon.

The triangular thing is signal strength bars. The fewer bars, the weaker the signal, increasing towards the right (higher bars).

I have a similar issue, although it's only started happening recently for now reason.. my iPhone won't automatically route the call to the car when recieving a call; I have to manually change it. Works fine with an outboud call though. I've looked in the bluetooth settings on the phone, but to noavail. Any ideas?

Breville, can't help - sorry. Have you shut down and restarted (iPhone) and re-paired it?
MarkFC, you must think I'm a right patronising shit, I've just realised what you were talking about, while I was on the way home. I've seen that too, and didn't get to the bottom of it either. I thought it may be a roaming signal, but can't be. A mystery it remains.

No worries Simon. My iPhone seems to be working fine in the car at the moment.
Today it decided it wasn't going to send texts so I had to power it down and up again, all good now.

MarkFC, tried restoring your iPhone and clear it, could just be a software needing update. Otherwise, ring Apple on 1300-321-456 and ask tell them your BT is stuffed and they should offer you a replacement.
I've both my phones (iPhone 3GS & HTC) paired and they work perfectly, seamlessly swaps between the 2 and everything - probably stop working now, knowing my luck! Let me know if you need any other assistance - iPhones paid for my car! |
