Non Electronic BMW Performance Steering Wheel

What do you guys think of this new Steering Wheel from BMW Performance? I like it, says something about the sport nature of the car i think, hopefully pricing and availability soon.

I like it, though it would be good to be able to choose the color of the marker at the top.

What is the marker at the top of the wheel for? So you know that the steering is centered? IMHO, If you can't work that out without a yellow bit of tape (marker) then you shouldn't be driving.

It is common for drifters etc when you have lots of lock on the steering wheel.

I'm guessing you haven't been doing any epic drifts in the car yet?

Not just for drifters. Any racing really. If you employ the push/pull steering technique, it can be handy to know where your wheels are pointing via the marker on the steering wheel. It sounds silly now, but it makes sense when things are flying past quickly out on the track.

Why did they have to make it flat bottomed???? Yes a lot of race cars have flat bottomed wheels for the good reason, but they also have steering a lot more direct/quicker too!

Umm....couldn't you just stick a piece of yellow insulation tape on your existing wheel?

what makes you say that

I can see your point, however, if you're not looking in the direction you want to go then a maker on the center of your steering wheel won't help you one bit

Bingo! and save yourself the hundreds of dollars BMW want to charge you for a steering wheel with some yellow tape on it.

And before anyone flames me, I sure there is more to it than just the yellow tape.

"For those customers who do not require the information display contained in the electronic version of the
BMW Performance steering wheel, a non electronic version, shown above, is planned to be available late
third/early fourth quarter. This steering wheel is made of both Alcantara and leather and in keeping with
the motorsport theme, has a flat base. This flat base is not available in the electronic version."

I like it, especially the fuzzy alcantara. I'd love the illuminated door sill plates too *drool* a friend of mine had them on his Coxster and they looked cool IMO.

I like it. This is more like it unlike the show car earlier version. Let me know Andrew. Only thing is I suspect it will be blardy expensive in which case I am better off going to get it re-wrapped in alcantara myself...

Hey Andrew, seeing as it is to suit an E46, would this fit my E87 1er?

Thanks
