Who's trying to prove himself around your E90?

Since I got my 330i I've seen many drivers trying to prove their machine outperforms mine. I think BMWs just provoke this type of behavior in others. Please post here your anecdotes.

Yesterday I was driving my son to the soccer game, and a nut in his Lancer Evolution stopped by my side at a traffic light, and revving his engine. At the green he accelerated rapidly, which I ignored. Unluckily for him a big truck had entered his lane and I just passed him at my normal speed. At the next traffic light he found himself behind me. At the green I started normally and he just passed me at about 8,000 RPM!! Crazy guy - the cool thing with the BMW there is nothing to prove, and we just relax and enjoy watching nuts like that.

(by the way the Evo makes 286 HP with a small 2-liter-4-cylinder engine, and accelerates to 60 in less than 5 secs - maybe he could've proved himself faster)

That high strung lawn mower is one fast and sharp handling machine.
Not so great in comfort features, but as pure drivers cars the STI and EVO are amazing.

Whole-heartedly agreed. There's no way my meager 325 would be able to go toe-to-toe with and STI, but it was real cute the way he needed to whip it out.

my god, and i thought i was the only one! Everyday single day- prob 1-2 incidents, except the difference with me is, i can never turn down a good run. But now that it happens so often im becoming quite more selective, because i'm even getting SUV's- Just the other day a guy in a hummer h2! Most common is the G35/A4. In my experienc the those two drivers seem to have something to prove. Not many IS's on the road but i feel like they are going to be a problem too.

I was driving on the hwy the other day and this car was ll over my ass so I sped up. I got tired of the too close to my ass deal and just floored it to get some space. We continued this until a truck got in my lane and the other car fianlly passed. I was doing 120 before I had to slow down. That car was an Impala SS with a very young kid driving and sticking his hand out the window waving #1.

Forget trying to beat them in a race. Just invest in a hood retractable rocket launcher, let them get in front, aim, fire...problem solved.
