Awesome thanks. I like the Eyebrow, looks like Facelift headlights.

How hard was it to open up the headlight?

Which LEDs did you use. Do you have a link by any chance?

Would appreciate any tips.

Thanks!

Hey Knob, can I get those 3 SMD LED bulbs you are using with CANBUS so I don't get any errors? For my '09 I tried to check on eBay but no joy

Just need 2 for the parking lights

Headlight repairer did all the works for me so I don’t know details about opening the headlights and where did he buy HID and LED, sorry. I paid him 370 Euros for the parts and his work.
Headlights looks good, but I still have the water in my left headlight

Great looking lights by the way! HID and LED upgrade?
Thanks!

Knob, is that group buy just stock DEPOs or does can you include extras? Also what would you say about the "moisture" issue with the headlights? Is it an issue with your set or just with people opening the casings?

I don't read German so...

Also what is the LEDs with CANBUS?? I am not familiar with that term but it cancels error codes on the BMW computer? What LEDs did you use?

Might be good to start a group buy over here too. Might get double the amount of people and up to 125$ off!

For those interested in Group Buy on German forum here is the translation....

Quote:
Soo .. here the most important information:

Order Process:
This is a group order of clear-glass headlights with Angel Eyes (DEPO company) for all 1 Series with halogen headlights (also FL). Orders will be in stock at the company AD-Tuning from Germany (www.ad-tuning.de). There has already been several group buys and it was always to the satisfaction of the buyers. The shipping is included in the price and shipping abroad is enumerated separately. Sent (directly to you on) and paid (directly to AD-tuning) will individually, so far has made it AD-tuning so that will be paid by each purchaser a down payment of 50% (or alternatively, the entire amount), before the order is raised. The bulk order will only take place if we have at least 10 interested parties, from then there is a short period if that has elapsed is ordered.

Prices: (Conversion on current market value of the dollar vs euro - could change)
10 pcs = € 195.00 - 269USD$
15 pcs = € 190.00 - 262USD$
20 pcs = € 185.00 - 255USD$

Information:
The lights will be in 2 versions: black and silver. The appearance is relatively close to the OEM look of the xenon lamp into the power switch is off and they also have a high degree of accuracy. The rings are usually fired from 16 pieces of T5 2.3 W halogen bulbs, which included replacement bulbs are included. These pears are a few but a) to yellowish, and b) are easily noticeable emerging points of light on the rings (photos to illustrate follow below). Some do not mind, but (like me for example) for some it was a reason not to take - so far. Recommendation I: For a remedy, the new LEDs are available from an Ebay dealer and already some forum users have easily bought and used (photos to follow as well). These cost € 25-30 (with and without Can-Bus Module - for tests both have worked without error) plus shipping. Currently there are these LEDs in 5000K (white, a little blue) and 6000K (slightly bluish) color temperature, according to the dealer at a later stage but also slightly yellowish light colors (probably between 3000K and 4000K).
The low beam and high beam are fitted as in the original Scheiwnerfer with H7 bulbs, but the low beam is located behind a lens and not in a reflector housing which changes the illumination a little. Recommendation II: There is a H7S Philips bulb that is designed specifically for lens headlamps, alternatively, you can also install a GE +90, which provides more illumination.

Installation:
In general, it is necessary to remove the front bumper to the headlights to install. These can be installed as the original headlights. The actuator be converted from the original headlights must be on the DEPO headlights. The electrical connections are plug and play. All of this can usually also do it yourself, there are instructions for each task (then follow). The headlights can of course also be installed by a professional workshop. Costs vary greatly.

So here now, links or pictures:

DEPO headlight day, Black

DEPO headlight day, Silver, Original Pears

DEPO headlights night, original bulbs - light by the 4 points used halogen bulbs T5 seen

DEPO headlights night, left original bulbs, right 5000K LEDs

Knob could you repost a somewhat detailed install on those LEDs. I am slightly confused how they go into the existing housing of the DEPO lights?

Okay cool! Yah, TomZ told me that he would contact AD-Tuning about shipping and what-not. But unfortunately I am sure they don't ship because of the 70+ Euro cost which ends up costing about the same as DEPOs over in the states with the discount...

I finally got around to installing the German Ebay Depo LEDs mentioned a few pages back. I must say, they are a 500% improvement over the stock depo bulbs. Do they look as bright as the new BMWs? No. There is still some trail-off as the light gets further away from the bulb. But overall it's not at all bad.

These pictures are real close to what you'll see in the real world. I played with the flash and f-stops of my camera until it captured what my eyes see. The color in my pics is very accurate. At night, they look very intense. During the day - not bad at all, especially considering the price and the fact that I didn't have to open up the housing. Plug and play, and they throw no codes.

One thing I noticed is the LEDs are a bit longer than the stock bulbs, so the end is pressed right up against the backside of the angel eyes.. I really had to push them into the housing to get enough friction to hold them in place. It's really easy to pull the plug back out of the housing.
