My CA confirmed no 1M in 2012
I got an email form my CA asking, did you know the 1M is being dropped next year?
Yup, a one year only car? |

Are you asking? Either way, the answer is yes. 2011 production only. Get it while it lasts!

Well... nice to converse with you.
The reason for the limited run of one year has a lot to do with homologation. With emissions becoming more and more stringent, it would have been difficult to re-certify the 1M. Furthermore, BMW really didn't seem to have their finger on the car's potential popularity. The decision to produce a 2012 model would have had to have been decided months ago. The limited run is going to make the 1M legendary and highly collectible.

My dad's CA confirmed him there was no car coming to Canada in 2012 too. Internal email was sent a while back about that at BMW NA/Canada...

Just goes to show you shouldn't believe any CA as the last word on anything (though in reality they all seem to switch from calling it a 1M/M1, I just ignore it).

It's common knowledge.
Everything at this point has switched over from 2011 to 2012 except the E90 and the E82M the E90 ceases production in October and the E82M Ceases in Dec (for the US Market). Last edited by dicker; 08-25-2011 at 03:07 PM.. Reason: Clarification |

There will be an M2 (not a 2M), and BMW has already put a patent on the name

The M2 should be glorious, but not as rare as the 1M as progenitor of a new era. Kaplah!
