Questions about stock brake fluid in 135i M-sport
Can anyone point me to the specs for the stock brake fluid?
Going to my first track day as a novice and not sure if I need to change to some more appropriate brake fluid beforehand. Any reference info is appreciated. Thanks. Not sure if I'll be ready to up to intermediate this time but we'll see. |

You will be fine for your first track day. Most likely you will come out with a mushy pedal at the end of the day which means you need a bleed or then just switch to a better fluid / pads.

Agreed. I've done 6 track days with this car, unless I forgot one, at three different tracks. Haven't had a problem. Be sure to turn off stability/traction control (at least partially), because I'm pretty sure it will cook your brakes. I know I accidentally left it all on for a lap, and could really smell the brakes.

I did 2 track days last year on stock brake fluid without even the slightest hint of brake fade or pedal softness. However, just to be safe this year, I'm upgrading to Motul 600 RBF in a few weeks.

You should change out your brake fluid after each driving event. Some car clubs(Porsche's PCA) want a shop to sign off on the last brake fluid flush job. You don't need any high end brake fluid. Any DOT-4 brake fluid will be fine. |
