I'd like to know as well. The car doesn't have a frame for the plate unless you have the M-Sport. Retrofitting this is too expensive (£92 unpainted).

I have the european frame from when I purchased my 325i in Germany. How can I use it with the american plates? Does anybody know a cool modification?

Did the dealer give you a US SPEC plate holder with the same hole sizes? I think mine did, but I would also like a decent MOD DIY.

Here's the deal. I bought my car while I was stationed in Germany. We had the german style plates. The dealership also gave me the US spec plate holders so when I bring it back to the states, I will have no problems putting on the US plates on it. When I started to put US plate holder on, I realized that the dealer did not include the screws with it. The screws that are used for the German plate holders does not fit. I end up buying generic screws that barely fit. I could have gone to the dealer here in the states but they might have charged me $100 dollars for the screws.

Oh, come on. Give them a little credit. They'd only charge you $99.99.
