bottomed out, what made that sound?

so having done a wiseman ferry cruise i did bottom out on one of the corners and heard a thud similar to a wheel hitting a deep pothole. kinda sad hearing that from the poor 1, so what did it hit and what should i check?

The lowest part of the car is usually either the jack points behind the front wheels, the midpipe cats (you have an N55 so you don't need to worry about that), the rear exhaust, or if you have a finned diff cover, that. Or you could have just bottomed out your suspension.

Get the car up safely and look under it. If you actually bottomed out, you'll see obvious scrapes on whatever was hit.

You can probably actually just look under without lifting the car, if you get down onto your hands and knees with a torch, and just look at the lowest part of the car and see if that's what's scraped.

I've bottomed out quite a few times on similar roads like old pac and akuna bay. The worst has got to be when I bottomed out my diff cover at speed on old pac though. I have a half cage and the sound of metal scraping on asphalt reverberated right through the cabin directly behind my ears...solid subframe bushings didn't help.

I noticed that the bottom of my axle back had been flattened somehow when I bought my car, pretty sure its not the lowest point of the car though

Speed bump for that one being just behind the rear axle.

dont worry, most likely it would be your suspension bottoming out and hard shock is transferred through to the chassis

Bottomed out on a car club run out west. Took a chunk out of the plastic rock guard.
Let's just say when I got up to highway speeds the whole underbody tray tore off
Have been running without one for nearly 2 years since
