I have had no probs with the JB3, the car should have been delivered standard with this mod IMHO..

Still having pathetic launches..too much wheel spin..runcraps will be replaced shortly, they only have about 5k km's left on them. Probably go for the Yokohama's Advan..
That's a very impressive time on runflats in a vert for just a JB3. What version of JB3 are you running, map 7 is quite high, do you have any supporting mods?

Also, how many km are you at? I'll be changing my RFT soon too.

The 1er vert is about 5.2-5.3. I read that in a test a while back.

And common, the 135i vert is a performer, as are most well built verts. Why else would Ferrari build a Scuderia vert? Because the top down experience makes bombing your way through a mountain pass so much better.

And when I auto-x my vert im consistently very close to the E46 M3 coupes in my times. Its an exceptionally capable car.

Oh, I'm not saying that people who like drop top driving don't also like speed, but if you're a serious track whore, you're not going to want the weight of a convertible. Its like asking how comfortable the seats are on a sailboat. You're kind of missing the point.

On this point I would agree with you. But when did the OP say he was a track rat? And I cant like the seats on my sailboat when I use the motor?

I agree with Citizen Z. If you are on the market specifically for a convertible and you want performance then sure, the 135i vert is right up there but you still have to consider other option like the SLK etc. If you are toying with the idea of having a convertible but really want performance the 2 don't really go hand in hand and they never have. Having a convertible always sacrifices performance not only in extra weight but handling as well, although technology has come along way, it will still never be as good as the standard coupe. In the case of the 135i vert there is a substantial weight difference over the coupe and you may not even realise unless you put them side by side.

The other way to look at the vert is you don't have to go fast to have fun. Dropping the top on a sunny pleasant day brings a smile even when you have to mess with traffic.

The extra weight is to stiffen the car to make up for some of the rigidity lost by cutting off the top. And it still is not as stiff as the coupe. But the tradeoff is well worth it when you put the top down and enjoy the sunshine. And no, a sunroof is not the same thing at all.

Mine is an e88, so even "slower" but still pretty quick for me.

I have the 1.3 Rev4 version of the JB3.. Running map7 all the time as the vert is not my daily drive and only comes out on weekends if that. I have scanned with the Bav Tech tool and have had no codes come up to date.

The only other mod I am running is custom mid pipes which eliminated the mid cats and resonator..

Just on 16,000km's now...Car is 17months old..

And I have driven my mates 135i coupe back to back with the vert with the exact same mods and there is a difference in speed, but just mainly in the initial launch seeing the vert is 110kg on the chubby side..

On the track it would be a different kettle of fish as the vert cant handle the bends and braking as efficiently as the coupe..

I Let my Dog drive for speed....that makes up for part of the weight difference.

Seriously, bought it for the COMBO pf power and the falling top. If I wanted speed, we would have got a Z06 or ZR-1.

Most of the time this is true, but there are some roadcars where the convertible is lighter, for example:

Z4M Roadster - 1450kg, 0-100km/h 5.0s, Z4M Coupe - 1465kg, 0-100km/h 5.0s
Lotus Elise SC - 870kg, 0-100km/h 4.6s, Lotus Exige S - 935kg, 0-100km/h 4.7s

Structural rigidity is better in the coupe vs the roadster, but the roadster has a slight acceleration edge in some cases. In the two cars above, the handling difference is negligible between the coupe and roadster, as the roadsters are very stiff, compared with the coupes being ultra stiff, only being noticed at the extremes on a track with a very experienced driver.

If the car was designed to be a roadster from the ground up, versus just chopping the roof off, it can be lighter than it's coupe sibling.
