Allianz refused to insure my 2002 E46 318i because it has M Double Spoke style 24 steped wheels and because my wife, who is on a 60% rating no claim bonus, has had 2 accidents in 5 years (and 3 in 30 years) She has only had 2 traffic infringements in 30 years!
Its in a low risk suburb and parked off the street. I am suspicious because I disclosed this at the time I took out the policy but when the paperwork arrived where the policy stated the wheels were 16inch and the driver had no claims. When I contacted them and insisted they correct the record they refused to insure me. It appears to me that the sales person changed the details to get the sale and if I had not noticed the discrepency I may have not been insured if we did try to make a claim. Allianz actually accused me of lying at the time I took out the policy!

Resurecting this old thread.....
I've been through all the usual "suspects" to price insurance, and it's amazing the difference in premium, and the questions you have to ask to get the "full story". Prices range from $2,400 to $1,300. Terms and specifics vary hugely. If folks want me to go through the 8/9 quotes i got, and the specifics, I'm happy to do so if it helps others. My specific question is, the best deal is through Ryno (which others have identified as being very competative). The policy is really a Lloyd's policy - Ryno are effectively a broker. It seems to offer what I want. Has anyone had any experience with Ryno, and / or made a claim against the Lloyd's policy. Any experience at all would be helpful. TIA. |
