Armorall Wheel Protectant question
This product seems to get strong support, so I'm going to ive it a go. Presumably it leaves some kind of a "coating" on the wheel that the brake dust adheres to less than the painted finish on the wheels.
That being the case, is it necessary, or recommended, to take the wheels off the car before applying the product? I'm wondering whether getting the "coating" on the rotors and callipers has any effect in terms of braking, or to the paint on the callipers. TIA. |

I just spray it on clean dry wheels. Have not noticed any problems with braking! Even after all the rain in Sydney over the last 2 weeks it is still holding strong.
(make sure the wheels are dry or you will end up with weird streaks everywhere as the dust builds!) |

i use it, it's great! the only trouble is that it's easy to miss areas when spraying which become clearly visible within a couple of days of driving.
Have had no problems with braking after using it. If i had to take the wheels off everytime i applied the spray i would rather not use it at all! It's painful enough waiting for the wheels to dry completely, spraying on the armourall, waiting another hour for the spray to dry, then giving it a second spray and waiting at least another hour for that coating to dry... meanwhile you can't drive your car (for a minimum of around 3 hours after washing if you follow their guidelines)! |

I've been using it also and it works great. As mentioned already, the real challenge is coverage as the areas you miss quickly show up!
The other plus is that what build up you do get on the wheels quickly comes off with a spray of water. I don't remove the wheels and haven't noticed an problems with braking or paint peeling from the brakes. |

I use one can every other wash. I do three coats though.

I get about 2 time out of one can, with around 1 major coat and one half coat each time.

lol, 1 can for 4 wheels is way too much! I usually get around 4 double applications per can (so, approx 32 individual wheels altogether).
What's with applying it every 2nd wash? Doesn't the coating come straight off as soon as you hit it with a bucket and sponge? |

Hey Tj303 - I do the second wash thing. The trick is to keep the car shampoo away from dripping onto the wheels and only water-rinse them with the hose. They can stay quite reasonably clean that way.

Hey NJ135 - Which Maguiars product are you referring to?
When you say it's the best you've found, have you tried the armorall product, and think the Maguiras is better? |
