BMW quoted $2,299 for me today. Based on the features, I don't think it is worth an extra $500 above RACV and Shannons. I've claimed via BMW previously (about 7 years ago) and whilst the repair was okay (family friend was a panel beater and approved by them) the people I dealt with were pretty average.
In particular it took them nearly 6 months to return my excess as person who rear ended me was a student and they really weren't too bothered in chasing them for the $$.

Got a quote from BMW Insurance today, was $1455, including immediate hire car in event of accident, 60% NCB, sole driver, etc.
So, I have just completed the 'paperwork' with Ryno at $78 per month, direct debit (about $954 per annum). I must say that I am extremely impressed with Ryno's customer service (and told them so), they are quick to return calls and I have the Certificate of Insurance emailed to me already. Thanks to the person who recommended them. Cheers all!

Can I suggest trying an insurance broker? They get to do all the legwork and may be able to find niche packages to suit you eg for modded cars, too young, too old (!!) etc etc
I just got a quote which looks very competitive (not quite as good as the Ryno figures - but close) and the details/features look quite good. Not sure availability in various states - but if you need a contact, PM me and I can give you a name and number to try. Worst case scenario - you wasted the cost of the call. They will also give several options (like the ARTOG options) - but I find a person on the line easier to get all your important features/add ons/requirements across. Just a thought. |

Sevo, good idea and will use in the future. Signed up with Ryno, so don't want to do the dirty on them now and change (even though I have 14 days).

I got my BMW/Allianz quote yesterday. Highest premium of the 6 I've quoted so far at a bit over $1800.
At this stage it looks like Ryno or Lumley will win my business. |

Bear in mind AAMI will likely do the repairs in house as opposed to giving you choice of repairer from what I understand of the policy. You might also want to see if the windscreen cover is capped out at a certain level. This is important for our screens given all the sensors and so on attached to them and the complexity of replacing the screen. This may or may not be a big deal for you. |

If you know a BMW or other prestige repairer - one that takes pride in their work and cherishes their reputation, it would help to get their view on this. And I'm pretty sure they'll have one. All those that I've spoke with certainly do!!!! |

Thought I'd share something I found out.
Lumley's windscreen option has a limit of $750 on the claim. They're firm on this and wouldn't move when I asked about it. The reason this is important is I rang BBMW to ask how much the whole windscreen was to replace given the sensors it has and was told about $1300. So in the event of a full windscreen replacement, you'd have to fork out an additional $550. From the research I've done, Ryno, Shannons and Suncorp don't have a limit of the payment for replacement windscreens. I thought I'd mention this one is it's the most likely claim many of us will have to make. |

I am not getting a 135i like most of you. I felt that was way to much car for my wife. So I only got her a 120i convert with extras Sports Pack BiXenon's elec seats window tint etc etc no NAV couldnt see the value in it. I tried Ryno after reading the notes in this thread. I found them crap. They didnt even call me back when I did the online quote request. The only thing I got from them was an email saying We dont want your business.
I got a quote from BMW it was $1050 per year. Also got a quote from AMMI and Suncorp. I wont go near AMMI with a 10 foot pole have a mate who has had nothing but trouble trying to get his car fixed its been six months already and they still havent fixed the car. They are trying to take short cuts in there repairs however the car manifacture states you cant just straighten the damamged part you must replace it with a new part. However moving on I decided to go with Suncorp they have been awesome in the past with the repair work they did on my Mazda after the wife got side swiped by some needle dick in a hurry at a petrol station. From accident to getting the car back took 7 days with no problems at all. The added bonus for me is my preferred crash repairer is Suncorp approved and BMW Approved repair station. they quoted $800 a year |

Good to hear pacman. Suncorp have given me the cheapest quote so far too at just over $1000. My decision may be swayed in that I'll want the overall cheapest (& best) combined package for my car & infrequently used bike. In the past Shannons has been the best but they're not really competitive with the 135.

Mmmm good points regarding AAMI. I read your comments too late! Suncorp were going to do it for around $795 inc windscreen and hire car. This was through the dealer as he was a suncorp broker.
Edit: I just checked the AAMI policy documents and I could not find a limit on their windscreen cover...only that an aftermarket windscreen will be used not OEM. Regarding repairers AAMI allow you to get a quote from a repairer...and if it is the cheapest they will use them. |

Interesting. I think you should not pay opera loud in the CD player just in case you crack every window panel in the car

As i said - check with a quality repairer and see when they last won business on a BMW with AAMI......
I wouldn't accept a non- OEM screen, nor would I want my car repaired by the lowest bidder, just because it saved my insurance company money. I want it back to perfect - as new. And only "certain" repariers can do that. I'd have BIG doubts that the "lowest quote" could do it. |
