We have 18x9.5" ET62 ARC-8's which are 1-series specific rear wheels. The rears are limited to the 265/35/18 tire size with the ET62 ARC-8 unless you roll the fenders. Even then, there are other issues that arise when using the 275/35/18 size which is why we do not recommend it. This is because when one is running a 275/35/18 rear extreme performance (ie. Hankook RS3’s) or R-compound tires with the 18x9.5" ET62 then the tire will likely contact the rear sub frame. This sub frame rub is only when the suspension is drooping (lifted in the air for service). The tires do not touch the sub frame when driving, but because there is contact, we do not recommend 275 width tires usually. The ideal setup for no issues is definitely the 265/35/18. You may have read about using a 275/35/18 rear tire before we were aware of how significant this problem is in the rear of the 1- series. It may be possible to fit the 275/35/18 rear tire with the use of a 5mm rear wheel spacer but at that point you are pushing the wheel/tire out very far and fender rubbing will very likely happen without heavy fender rolling.

Stock rear 207Ms are 17 x 7.5, I currently run 225/45 but will it be feasible to put in a TALLER (meatier?) and slightly wider tire like 235/45 or even 245/40?

Sorry if it's out of the topic... But I do agree with the post above, I currently run 225/45 on all 4 corners of my 128 after everybody's advice here. The fronts actually look alright with 225/45s. OEM was 205/40. Running Yoko S-Drives. It does look a bit bulging, but otherwise, I'm gonna say, functional.
Well really do not know, but I have 225/45R18 on all four corners of mine 128i and the Passenger side front wheel is hooking due to contact with the Strut.

BMW prescribed Tyres 215/40R18 for front and 245/35R18 for Rear, are very rare to find in mine country, except by special order. Can I use 225/40R18 instead for both front and Back tyres.

Kindly advice.

Hi Apex, just curious if there was ever a fix to this? I'm looking to get some Arc-8's and would like to fit 275/35/18 on the back if possible. If not, I am fine with 265/35/18. Also, what's the largest we can fit on the front with the Arc-8's or other wheel? is it 245/40/18? I have a 2010 135 M sport. Thanks!

Thanks for the post! We did end up changing the rear offset to ET58, which allows for easier fitment of 265/35-18 tires, and helps with subframe clearance when running 275/35-18, although rolled fenders are still going to be required to prevent rubbing.

Regarding the front fitment: 235/40-18 is what we recommend on the 18x8.5" ET45 as a direct fit on stock suspension or lowering springs. 245/40-18 will likely need some negative camber in order to prevent rubbing, and may even need small spacers depending on the tire brand and compound.

Thanks Dylan. Should I be worried about under-steer with the 235 in front and 275 in the back difference? Do you guys offer EC-7 that can support similar sizes?
