PS: Take a look at the updated V-Fiber body kit pictures on page 1. Looks hot!! We told them to do a more agressive looking Tii look, they came through with flying colors.

I hate to say it, but I dremeled the plastic parts of the tab, heated it, and bent it so it's no longer in the way. I don;t know if you can do any legal body modifications in your class. It's totally unnoticeable from the outside. That tab is a very poor design though.

I think you might be okay on the strut side, using your calculations, and if you can get away without the spacer (which might be a tall order), all the more better for clearance. I can physically mount my fronts on, and spin the wheel, but it barely rubs the stock strut. I bet it's only my a single mm that it's off, but the 5mm spacer affords me some tire flexing room.
Wheels should show up today. I'll let you guys know how it works out.

BTW - I did NOT order TPMS. So I'll just have to live with a light on my dash. Once I get a set BBS LM's I'll add the sensors to the "street" set of wheels.

These are some ginormous front pads we have.

If you look at the edges of the front pads you'll see where they had to shape the backplate of the pad. Nobody makes these pads yet so they had to use a Porsche (944 I think?) front pad and modify it for use on the 1er.
had you checked out Turner motorsports for pads. they are selling braeks for the 135i of course I don't think they offer anything as aggressive as HT-10s just there own compound hawk blue and PFC 01 compound.

I ran HT-10s on my Camaro and every now and then I drove to and from the track with them on. it was really cool at night with the brakes cold they would shoot sparks out of the brakes.

Those "sparks" were red-hot chunks of your rotors being torn off by the pads

Burger Motorsports O2 CEL fix installed. The instruction video was very helpful here. The whole install took ~30-45 min. They are a perfectly clean install, everything can be easily be returned to 100% stock with these.

Everything looks factory, some of you guys can even tell where it is! I mounted them inside the DME box with some double sided tape. It's right in front of you though!

Sneak peek at the new exhaust. B-pipe is still a prototype, this is the first one we made over the weekend. It's a dual 2.5" system that is completely modular. You can use it with your stock muffler, BMW performance muffler, etc. 100% bolt on. In this one we have a pair of Magnaflow metallic cats, not one of those cheap $60 "spun" metallic cats that I've seen popping up all over the place. The Time Attack rules state that we have to run cats in our class, but these B-pipes can be made with resonators or completely straight though.

The rear section is already in a later stages of production. It's made, digitized, and getting the small details worked out.

Playing with different radii to get the widest, smoothest bend possible.

Never look in on the ECU, but I'm thinking that the arrow is pointing at the BMS Sim.

Great looking exhaust, BTW.

THIS CAR HAULS ASS!! According to our stopwatch we're lapping the track in the (13CCW config) at 2:08. For a car that is fairly stockish (driven to and from the track), those are some pretty dang good times. This car definately has some potential to be very fast. This weekend we'll be doing two days at Autoclub Speedway for the Redline Time Attack series. We placed 2nd place last year in this car against some very high HP twin turbo 350Z's. I'm feeling good about this weekend's event as well.

Two things you guys need to do if you plan on taking these out to the track.

1. Pads - stock pads will cook after 1 lap
2. Tires - stock stock RunCraps just don't cut the mustard.

Okay, lots of other stuff to update. We were going like made to get the car done before Sat. We finished right around 1AM Friday night, then had to do more work at the track. D-Force Wheels & Vorshlag really pulled through for us and got us our wheels just in time for the race weekend. We didn't have a chance to test fitment on the car, so we just rolled up to the track with them on. The front tires were rubbing running with the 5mm spacer so we ended up destroying a brand new Neova (not cheap). We also had a slight rub in the rear. By taking the 5mm front spacers out and aligning the car at the track we were able to run spacer-less on the setup for the rest of the day. The front & rear still rubs "slightly" but for the time being we'll be okay.

Our track day setup consisted of the following:

Engine:
Berk Technolgoy axle back exhaust
Berk Technology dual performance pipes - catted version
Berk Technology downpipes
Burger Motorsports O2 CEL fix

Suspension/Brakes
KW Variant 3 coilovers
Vorshlag Camber plates
H&R Rear Sway Bar
Hawk HT-10 pads w/ Motul Fluid (installed at track)

Wheels/Tires:
D-Force Empower 18x8.5, 18x9.5
Yokohama Advan Neova 255/40/18 front, 265/35/18 rear
Vorshlag wheel studs
Vorshlag 5mm spacers (removed at track)

Interior:
Berk Technology custom harness bar
Berk Technology custom seat rails
Sparco Pro 2000 seats
Sparco harnesses

We rushed to get the car done by Friday.

We put the car on an alignment rack today to see where the alignment really was and we were able to make some adjustments. I highly recommend that you guys align these cars, even if new from BMW. Our car only has ~800 miles on it and we always thought the front toe was out of whack, and it was. I'll post up the alignment sheet when we get some time. We need to take the 1er back up to V-Fiber and get it ready for a KW photo shoot!

Gotta love race seats in a brand new Bimmer!

Here's another shot of J Tyler at last years Euro Tuner/Super Street "Super Lap Battle".

Same driver, same track, different direction. For 2008 we'll represent the 1er at the Super Lap.

Wheels look great!!!

How much negative camber are you running front and rear?

Did you have to adjust the camber when you removed the 5mm spacer for better clearance?

I am guessing you are getting fender rub only, not strut, body or suspension arm rub?

In the pictures we were running -2.3 deg front, -1.6 deg rear. As of yesterday we're running 2.3 F, 1.8 R. We were hoping for -3.5 front, but the camber plates won't allow for that unless we start modifying them. We might be able to sqeeze -2.5 out of the fronts with the Vorshlag plates, we shall see.

The fronts rubbed pretty badly using the 5mm spacers. So we removed them at the track.

The D-Force wheels setup should be plug and play using the following setup:

Vorshlag camber plates, set to max camber
18x8.5 ET40 - 245/40/18 front
18x9.5 ET43 - 255/40/18 rear

We are running a 255 & 265 which is rubbing. We are switching out the 255/40/18 Neova in the front in favor of a set of Toyo R1R 255/35/18. It's a better match for the space you have in the front fender.

Nothing is rubbing the suspension components.

Are 35 aspect ratio tires not available for the tire brands you are using? Seems like they might cause less clearance issues.

WHOA!! I see a Hawk HT-10 box on the front seats... Are you trying some prototype pads, or is Hawk getting ready to start offering some pads for us? I'd love a set of HP Plus for a trifecta of street/autocross/track pad. I found HT-10s too aggressive for autox, which is what I mostly do.

Mike - Yes you are correct. The 35 profile would make the 255 ~1" shorter, so about .5" of more clearance on each side. We've been using Neova's exclusively on all of our cars for the last 3 years. They don't have them available in a 255/35/18, so we experimented with the 255/40/18. I always seem to ruin one good set of tires in the name of pushing the limits. So at least the rest of you guys know that the 255/40/18 won't quite work. Everyone reading, feel free to send donations for our R&D efforts if you feel inclined.

The Toyo R1R is supposed to be the new bad ass in town, and they came in 255/35/18, so we shall see. Getting them mounted tomorrow.

Larry - the Turner cool willy seems like it might fit the bill for what you are looking for. The Hawk HT-10's aren't quite a production ready pad for the 1er. They were custom made for us. I'm sure Hawk will have their full line available soon. In the mean time your pad choices are pretty limited. IIRC they did not have a HP, or HP plus available at the time we had our HT-10's made.

If you wanted linear spring coilovers, why didn't you go for KW Club Sport?

The KW Clubsports are ILLEGAL for my class. They don't want people bringing KW Clubsport/Moton/JRZ equipped cars into the street tire class. If you've got the money to blow on a set of coilovers that are that high end, then you belong in the modified class on R-comp tires.

We're just the "slow" guys on Neova's and R1R's.

Here's what tire/wheel combo's we've run so far:

Front:
D-Force EmPower 18x8.5 +40
255/40/18 Advan Neova - RUBS!
255/35/18 Toyo R1R. OK!

Rear:
D-Force EmPower 18x9.5 +43
265/35/18 - Hankook Z212 - Rubs slightly.
255/40/18 - Advan Neova - RUBS!

For the race this past Sunday we ended up using the OEM rear wheels w/ a 255/40/18 Advan Neova, no rubbing.

Some pictures:

For more pictures go here. We raced this car this last weekend. We were able to do all of this work in 3 weeks! Success!

So for those of us still a little offset-challenged, what would you recommend for a slightly staggered setup? Using D-Force wheels, perhaps 235 front and 255 or 265 rears and something not as wide as the Neovas? (I was thinking RE-01R).

Don't mind rolling the fenders a little...
