Wow, that sucks! I started using that little seat belt clip thing I have because I got tired of bouncing my helmet off the headliner on Shenandoah. I remember you and I were talking about sore shoulders from that track, but damn, bruising your kidneys?

Gary,
what seat belt thing? I need to think of something before my next event. I was thinking of getting some foam and shaving a piece to wedge in. what do you guys think?

here is another video shot from my friends car chasing me. love how the 1er looks in action from behind. there's a lot of bounce. I come in at 37 sec. you can see me practicing my trail braking technique on the off camber turn leading into the bridge straight. this turn frustrated me

Buddy of mine was in the GT3 - he just got the car - very fun! Too bad I missed on the event...but can't complain was on vacation. I've tried a method where you put the seat back some, pull on the belt hard so it locks and then use the seat motors to put the seat back up which tightens the belt. This holds you in place pretty well.
Thanks for sharing the videos - hope you feel better! Last edited by joeo; 05-24-2012 at 11:45 PM.. |

that's why 5 point harness' are made for. looking into picking up the schroth harness. already ordered a kidney belt for off road bikers. that should keep the internals nice and tight

About the harness, I'm not clear on whether the rallye-4 or rallye-3 is best for our cars. I've called HMS and got different answers. There's a DIY for Rallye-4 install here somewhere that says the Rallye-4 fits but you have to pull the rear seat bottom to use it. I told the HMS guy that, and he said no, you can leave the seat bottom in after you get it installed. So I don't know. The main guy at HMS is Joe Marko. Maybe talk to him to get it straight. |

pixel,
very cool video! Lucky that your buddy was behind you that long. Not often does one get such a comprehensive 3rd person view! A few comments: - That turn before the bridge straight as you called it, why are you pinching that off so much? It's the turn before the biggest straight on the track, you have to make that work. The camera car seems to have a much nicer line through there. I'd try that line. Slow in, fast out... Use all the track in that turn. - Have you tried softening up the rebound on your shocks? Your car does seem to be bouncing way too much. - It looks to me like you're over-driving the car just a bit. Do you have any inside views of your driving? Have you checked whether you're sawing on the wheel or holding steady radii through the turns? Edit: LOL, totally forgot about the videos on the first page You're not sawing the wheel per se, but you're shuffle steering. I'd definitely switch to 9&3 and try for smother cornering. - Awesome slip angle @ 0:45 Nice video - thanks for sharing! Last edited by int2str; 05-25-2012 at 11:52 PM.. |

@int2str, yeah that one turn was a bit frustrating. I kept wanting to carry more speed there but like you said slow in, fast out. that turn is a little tricky because of it's progressive positive camber. the least amount of camber is coming in tight, hence me pinching that turn. I was trying trail braking through it which helped rotating the car but I wasn't doing it perfectly. I started the day with a softer rebound setting (first video) and that yielded my fastest times. as I stiffened the rebound my times started to slip plus I was trying too hard , and I had a hard time dialing the right amount of tire pressure all day. I should be able to shave off a few more seconds if I run with no errors. will give it another shot in a month thanks for the input!
