When I did my first 2000 km service, service man said to me that the oil in the gearbox should not be changed.

My dealer did their research also and this was their answer. 3rd oil service will require transmission fluid change. I have never owned any other car that required a trans fluid change at 1200 ..... for most if us, if you want to do it - go ahead, pretty easy job!

Makes sense, BMW NA saw the statistics and agreed: Why bother with manual transmission fluid changes, in spite of the ~1k 1Ms, most people in the US still drive automatics ...

ulletin is from BMW Canada, part of BMWNA, which also includes the US.

Had break-in service today (U.S.) and dealer said that tranny fluid is not changed until third service.

Has someone got a copy of the USA service bulletin? My idiot SA just told me that there is NO 1,200 mile service and that BMW NA would not pay for it.
