Just got my first licking...

Yep you read that right, I got it. Not sure if it happened at a gas station or a resturant. I was left with an empty feeling inside. All i wanted to do was cuddle. Could have been a guy or a girl for all i know. Well you must be curious by now what I am talking about. My phone rang first thing this morning, I pcked up the phone, pressed answer and said, "Good morning this is ...." when i was rudely interupted by an automated message that said, "This is Visa Fraud Prevention calling about some resent transactions you have made on your XXXX visa card. Please listen carefully to each transaction and respond to the questions. I waited an uncomfortable amount of time and it finally says, "A transaction in the amount of 748 dollars and 99 cents was made at a Best Buy in Minnesota on September 3rd two thousand thirteen. If you made this transaction please press 1 if not press 2." Without hesitating i pressed 2. I mean, "What?", I have never even been to Minnisota. Then the automated system said, "Thank you, we have blocked the card, please contact a representative at XXXX bank for further assistance at 1 800 XXX XXXX." I thought to myself, wow did i just hear that all right? I called my bank and of course took care of the fradulent transaction but what an empty violated feeeling I have in the pit of my stomach.

I have kept running through all these scenarios where i used the card over the past few days and can only come up with a couple places where i used it. A couple gas stations and two resturants. Was it a waitress? Waiter? Rigged Gas Pump? Who knows at this point. All I can say is that they electronically ripped me off.

I read recently in a local paper where theives were implanting scanning devices at pumps and recording the information of your credit cards. Several people have gone to jail over this. They setup cameras that video you inputting your pin or your zip if requested. Then they come by with a wireless scanner and read the data that is stored inside the pump remotely by just sitting in their cars. They make new cards with your data. The Sheriff's department released that we need to look for broken locks or faulty panels on pumps. They also said to only buy gas from the pumps immediately in front of the building that they target those which are far away from the door and cameras. I usully do that everytime but cant remember if i did this time.

I will get the money back because it was stolen but it is going to take about 10 days. So yes I got licked. not sure who or what at this point. Do take precautions so this doesnt happen to you.

It will make you suck your thumb...

Just happened to me a week ago too. It was only $250.00, and my account was credited back. It all happened so fast. Next day I had a new card!! I am glad we have these protections.

Yup, happened to me 3 times in my life so far. Twice were traced back to a purchase made on Itunes with my card. Apparently they are notorious for swiping peoples info, so now i only make purchases with gift cards....

Though i dont really think this is the right section for this post. Off topic seems more appropriate.

I spent quite a while reading that wall of text wondering when, if ever, it was going to relate to a BMW 1-series.

ok my 1er friends... i understand your point here, no it wasnt a 1 topic i get it. This wasnt even a rant on my behalf. This message for you to learn from my mistakes so that it doesnt happen to you. If that offends you in any way or you dont want to read my horrible post then I will keep it to myself next time. I just thought maybe someone that i communicate with regularly would appreciate me trying to help them. Sure it could have gone in the genereal forum but i never visit there, I am here and in the E89 forums only.

I will keep this in mind next time and it will be your loss.

Yup. Just happened to me last month as well. These sneaky bastards! The bank just credited me back the money and I got my new card overnighted.
