Downpipe for 1M???

Guys,

I've the eisenmann exhaust on my 1M and this week I'll install the midpipe...

I wish to buy and install the downpipe too...but some people told me if I do that, I'll have problems with a sensor and a light will be on my dashboard, and I could have some problems (it's seems that the 335 and the 135 had these problems...)

So I want to ask, is this real? Can I buy and install a downpipe on the 1M without have any problems? If there is no problem, what brand do you propose for downpipe?

Thanks...

AR catless dps, true 3".

Also go to burgertuning.com

You can get a dp fix to turn off that light if you do not have a tune that does it already.

They still taper down to meet up to the midpipe.

And for those who bought AR high flow cats, you will still get a check engine light from it.

Oh crap, are u serious? I ordered the AR catted pipes to avoid the CEL! Then theres no point in getting Catted DP's. I might as well have ordered any one of the non catted pipes

Different high flow catted pipe, but the result is still the same.

They cost more and they have a high failure rate which will degrade in about a year or two. Return them while you can and save money by buying a set of catless downpipes. You can suppress the CEL by having an aftermarket tune on it. My Cobb Stage 2+ map suppresses this CEL even though I have a set of catless downpipes on my 135i or use the BMS downpipe fix.

+1 about still needing the BMS dpfix in order to show readiness.

I have Akra Slip-on, Akra wireless valve, N55 midpipes and JB4.
Ordered PLM 3" catless downpipes yesterday for 395$(!) and will post a complete review of installation, fitment and sound with both pictures and videos.

Meisterschaft now has a line of 3" down pipes for the N54. I think I might give these a go and change over to resonated mids.

$798

I rock the VRSF 3" Catless on mine and love them. You will get a SES light no matter what brand aftermarket catted or catless downpipes.

What about those of us whose states require inspections? I want to do a dp, but I don't want to have to swap it out when I go in for an inspection every year...

Considering N55 mids too... so I think I would be fully catless?? I feel like that may be a recipe for disaster.

AR catless with a BMS DP fix or a flash tune with the coding removed and you are good to go!

We have installed catless AR 3" DP. At Stage 2 GIAC software flash, it is worth about 8-12 whp over OEM. Catted version will be a bit less. The OEM DP's are actually very efficient and aren't the same ones BMW installed on the 135i and 335i.
