power windows behaviour
I was wondering if the following behaviour of power windows is
only on my E90. With the engine running and the car parked, when I try to close the driver's window by pressing the switch passed the resistance point, the window closes all the way. If however the door is open and I do the same, the window doesn't close all the way and it basically does the same as if the switch was not pressed beyond the resistance point - it will close for as long as you hold the switch. Anybody noticed that in their car? I couldn't find something in the manual about it. sc.- |

two stage power window switches. Interesting difference of operation though for the windows between close/open door. What was the reasoning behind it? sc.- |

One of the reasons may be that on some of the other models, like the E39 5 Series, you could easily bump the window controls when reaching out to close the door. With this system the window will only move slightly, but without it your window would move all the way down or up before you could close the door enough to press the button again to stop it.
