All new engines will use some oil while breaking in. Don't see the problem here......

Two years later I can confirm that not only can a dicky CCV or vacuum pump can cause this behaviour but so can a dead oil-level sensor.

It was reading low, so I put more oil in - too much oil, which got pumped out of the engine - both into the intake manifold (much smoke and choked oxygen sensor) but also OUT of the motor at every join new sump gasket, new o-rings in about eight places, new rocker cover gasket, etc etc.

Hours of fun for the mechanics (not) and lots of parts. About twice the cost of replacing CCV and vacuum pump :-(

I've also been having some issues with oil use, 500ml per month, but I am about 10000kms over due for an oil change.
