Everyone says the performance suspension rides MUCH better. Softer on the highway but holds the road better in the turns - twisty bits. Geting rid of the run flats will also improve the harsh ride at low speed.

A lot of 1addicts have said the Perf Suspension SHOULD have come from the factory this way. For me that is really telling. Plus the PS comes with all the little things you need to do the install. It is on my list of "must have" mods.

Every thing Dackelone said is spot on. But I will stress most likely why you don't like the hard ride of the M-sport is due to the "rock hard" RFTs. I got rid of the RFTs after 1500 miles and the overall ride quality was much better. So get rid of the RFTs first and see what you think. Then you can make a better decision on whether a suspension upgrade is in order.

Change away from RFT's to get a softer ride. I changed to Hankook V12's and the grip and ride difference was greatly improved.

I have no first hand knowledge of the PS, But... I think from what I have read about the PS here on this forum - is that the PS works better as a whole suspension system. It soaks up the bumps yet is sporty and lowers the car somewhat.

Getting rid of the runflat tires WILL help the ride SO MUCH. It will get rid of 85% of the way the suspension skips and hops over bumps. But not entirely. Make sure you get very good high performance tires though. Don't cheap out on them... bc this is the biggest factor in how a car grips, turns and brakes: it's tires.

I really think the Performance Suspension is a well designed kit. SO many people over here can not be wrong. I hope to be one of them soon.

I agree with the above, but it is definitely stiffer than the msport. It is significantly more firm in fact. BUT I find this desireable for both performance and comfort. It improves a lot of the float, squirm, and uneasiness of the sport. it doesn't bounce over the bumps like stock either. I love it, but if you find the sport too stiff it may not be for you. Like suggested try different tires (non rft).

To me the non RFT just made the problems with the Sport suspension worse due to the softer sidewall. It wasn't until I added the PS that I was satisfied with the way the car handled. The sport suspension was scary to drive and nothing like the other BMW's I had driven before I bought my 1.

I'm still struggling to decide between the BMW PS and KW V2s. I really don't have much of a desire to adjust ride height or mess with settings. Usually with adjustable shocks I set it once and stick with the setting that I like best. Just want something 1) comfortable that 2) eliminates the bounciness and 3) reduces the floaty feeling.

Sounds to me like you are describing - BMW's Perf Suspension.

PS will do this. These are its best qualities. It doesn't have the adjustability and is likely more tame than a KW coilover set-up, but if those are your primary goals, BMW PS is probably for you.
