HPFP

Any members here had their fuel pumps changed, not many 1m has reported this problem. Unlike the 1 series, problem was so big, there was a recall. Think my tune is putting more stress on the hpfp causing it to act strangly on me

Here are my symptoms, engine takes 2seconds longer than usual to start, unstable rpm at idil especially after reversing, throttle responds seems insensitive and stalling. Are these all early signs of a malfunction fuel pump, since there is no codes showing I need to take a gamble and order a new fuel pump to fix my symptoms incase the car leaves me stranded somewhere. Pls advise guys

Has there been anyone who's made an aftermarket fuel pump to address this problem? Since BMW doesn't seem to have ever made one that has fixed it? I had a 335i and it got replaced 3x's and still wasn't right.

IIRC there has been quite a few revisions to the HPFP that seemed to address the issue but not solve the problem entirely

Nope. No ones ever come up with a more robust alternative. Several companies have been in touch with the manufacturer but they are not interested in creating an aftermarket solution. Vargas Turbos has a product on the market now that uses the latest gen BMW unit and reworks it for increased flow. I have no idea if this increases life expectancy.
