Possible Purchase... Opinions please

So I am looking at a 2008 Montego Blue 135i with 27k miles and CPO for 29,900.

6MT
Sport Package
Premium Package
Navigation

Two things I'm concerned about are the 2008 not having the "M" Sports Package with M door sills. I like the wheels on the sport package so I'm not worried about it as they will become my winter wheels eventually anyway...

Is the iDrive worse in the 2008 models? I see that it is different but can't decide if it is worth getting the 2008 or waiting for a 2009 to come along.

I was looking for black, but this color looks awesome, especially with the gray interior!

Opinions on this deal?

Forgive me, but how much value does a nav from 08 add to the value? Maybe $700 no more.

Yeah, I agree. I am trying to get the price lower, but he said the price is firm about 3 times...

Just found the same car but with no CPO for $27,900.

2008 Montego Blue 6MT
36,000 miles
Sport Package
Premium Package
Navigation
Premium Hi-Fi Logic 7
Comfort
Cold Weather

Price seems a bit high for not CPO and quite a bit of miles. What do you guys think a fair price is?

they ALL say the price is "firm" but you need to outsmart him and say you'll put a downpayment down if you get the price you want get the manager out and he'll work with you...i would not pay 29k for that and also with 36k miles i would not pay 27.9k like i said i just payed 27k for basically a fully loaded coupe with 25k miles..dont settle if its not the right price it means its not meant to be keep searching and you will find one.

The only reasons I am holding back with the 2008 is the older iDrive and also this one doesn't have phone integration.

Could I get some feedback on the quality of the phone integration. Is it worth it? Is it easy enough to use and sound quality good enough to want to use?

Is the new iDrive better? Is that worth continuing the search?

Was the heated steering wheel part of the 2008 cold weather package?

Other than that this car has everything I want as long as I can get him to lower the price.

Thanks, I appreciate the help!

The only way you will know about the user friendliness of the IDrive is to spend and hour or two fiddling with it. Curious to know why you want it when you live in Vermont??? Oh Yes, the CA answers to the sales manager so give him/her and price and see what you can get. There may be a bit of a wiggle room, but don't count on more than 500-1000. Finally, CPO all the way. BMWs and the rest of the German crowd are very very very expensive to repair.

Thanks for the reply.

Are you curious why I want iDrive or why i want a 135? I actually live in Boston now, but i do get up to VT once a month still.

And yes, I am trying to get CPO also, hard to find the perfect car...

I live near Seattle and use a Garmin. A bit of an eyesore, but works well. I'm in San Francisco this week and I brought it with me. No, 135 is a terrific car, not sure about nav in a BMW. I didn't want to spend the extra 2K.

i wouldn't pay more than 28.5k for it...dont not buy a car because of the navi or else you're never gonna find the perfect car...

He just offered 31,500 OTD all fees/tax included. I think it's a fair price, not a steal by any means. Can't decide...

I didn't think the 08 nav was bad. The dvd's are updated and there is also a way to modify it to be able to play dvd's which is cool for the passenger...

assuming your sales tax is at least 5%...that's still overpriced. you can definitely get a thousand or 2 off of it, you're overpaying

The old iDrive is horrible compared to the new one, but if you haven't used the new one you wouldn't know anyway. So just never ride in a bmw with the updated iDrive and you are good.
