If your 1M was taken away...
In speaking with my dealership, it seems that my allocation got approved and is beginning production except for some unfortunate news that...
1) The allocation is in the dealership owner's name. 2) It's not spec'd at all like I requested. 3) I'll may have to entertain a bidding war once it gets in. The only thing I can say to my SA's credit is that he's been very upfront with me every step of the way. No promises were made or broken. Thinking further... If I somehow get the rug pulled out from under me, I may entertain a chance to start over with a 2012 M3 E92 6MT without navi, competition package, and sunroof. My fully-loaded E90 right now has proven to be a bit more than I want or need. Too many doors. Suspension I never adjust. Boring DCT. A sunroof I never use. And a highly distracting onboard screen. Fat, fat, fat. What would you do if your chance at a 1M was taken away?

I'd drive my girlfriends chevy aveo until the new V6 M3 came out
Edit: Unless they gave you a S~M~O~K~I~N deal on the 2012 M3. I think you'll end up paying a gas guzzler tax in the US (is that right)? That, plus the new body style of the new one, plus it'll save on gas, etc. Last edited by v1k0d3n; 09-28-2011 at 11:51 AM.. |

I deploy about every 1 to 1.5 years, so I would wait for the new M2/M3 and purchase it thru military sales. In the meantime, I would ride my Duc more often until winter sets in.
More than likely, I would cry myself to sleep everynight until the new M2/M3 arrives. This, I blame on all that Air Force sensitivity training....kindler and gentler.

EXACTLY my second choice had the 1M not come through - 6MT."Engine up front, gearbox in the middle, traction in the back" - with a glorious V8. The deals and financing are (were) just remarkable and arguably one the best deals on an M-car. Add onto THAT EuroDelivery discount = I'll give you a real-world number $53,000 (give or take a couple hundred $) for M3 sedan stripped, comp package, metallic paint. Financing was at 0.9% (1.9% - 1.0% loyalty discount), PLUS BMWCCA $500 rebate meant FREE financing. In retrospect, I think the M3 sedan is a better deal than 1M. I had read somewhere that the M3 was the most reliable BMW in the lineup - I could never verify this, but who knows?

That's a tough call on patience. And would you really want a first out M redesign? Think of all those guys in 2008 M3s with the old iDrive knob.

Make some calls and make sure some serious ass kicking takes place.
This owner bullshit seems to be getting out of hand. BMW NA needs to get involved. On a practical hypothetical (my dealer has been pretty straight and upfront with me so far) note: I would go back to my A4 till the Cayman refresh comes out (possibly with some mild hybrid flavor or a high power 4 cylinder). The Audi R4 could be another option. Until BMW fixes the problem with their dealers, I would not give them any more business.

Exige and swap in a K20 with boost.
That or a 911 of some sort, 996 911 Turbo maybe. If money wasn't an issue, it'd be this : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2012-...#ht_500wt_1091

0-60 is more like 4.7-5.3 seconds. Most of the time it's about 5 seconds. It's only rarer than the 1M b.c their sales are slow not b.c of limited production. Resale value will be good though until a new elise is released for the US, which no one knows when will happen. 2011 MY is the last for the Elise/Exige. There are a few nice leftovers out there! |

If I may be so bold, it would be a mistake for you to accept not getting a 1M. Commanding a 1M is your first, best destiny; anything else is a waste of material.

You're about to remind me that logic, alone, dictates your actions.
I would not presume to debate you.
