Anybody know where to find a Conti Mobility Kit?
Other than Tire Rack?
Going on a road trip this weekend. First without the runflats, so hoping to pick up one at a retailer somewhere. I know I can get an off-brand one, but would prefer the Conti kit. |

I think his point was that you're better off just having AAA or getting towed to the closest tire store. I haven't had runflats, a spare or anything more than a plug kit for decade and have only needed a tow once. The goop in those Continental kits tends to piss off tire repair people and can even be tricky to properly remove from a wheel if left on for more than a few hours. When I bought my M Coupe it came with a tire inflator and tire goo, the sales guy showed me the tire repair goo, said it was best to throw it away, and asked if I'd like him to do it, that was the last I saw of it. The tire inflator is nice though.
Once a tire, runflat or not, has gone completely flat, you're usually best off replacing it, especially if it's been driven on at all. Sidewalls aren't meant to support a load at uninflated pressures. Just because you can bring it back to life doesn't mean that you really should. |

I nearly died laughing listening to the Bimmercast (only a few months ago) where one of the guys describes how he destroyed his new shoes and the side of his car when the M3 mobility kit blew off his tire valve and sprayed goop everywhere.

OK, so what your saying is just get a compressor and hope for the best.
I can deal with that, cheaper anyway. And besides, what am I paying BMW Assist for! |
